UW Medicine is seeking a Senior Director, Enterprise Portfolio Management, UW Medicine. This individual will be responsible for overseeing the development, deployment, and management of an Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (EPMO). As a key leadership role across the UW Medicine health system, the Senior Director, Enterprise Portfolio Management will set strategy for specific portfolios with key responsibilities to grow field engagement and partnerships. The EPMO was established by UW Medicine and the Office of the Chief Health System Officer, UW Medicine to enhance the organizational structure, standardization, and oversight of large-scale planning and portfolio management functions across the health systeminitiatives, programs, projects, capabilities, and/or experiences. The Senior Director will work with the EPMO Manager to create and establish new workflows, processes, documentation and visualizations to support decision-making by executives and senior leadership. The Senior Director will interact directly with executive and clinical leadership to facilitate enterprise planning, prioritization, and tracking of key efforts.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead an enterprise-level team that performs Planning and Portfolio activities for a large Academic Health System, which includes large portfolios of initiatives, programs, projects, capabilities, and/or experiences

  • Oversee development and management of Planning & Portfolio processes and rhythm of the business activities including strategic planning, intake of new work, and prioritization and governance

  • Drive continuous process improvements to increase effectiveness and efficiency, bringing consistency across portfolios and teams

  • Identify synergies across the Planning & Portfolio functions to optimize how we work internally

  • Work with stakeholders to influence and drive improvements in the enterprise planning & budgeting process

  • Accountable for quality of team output and deliverables, including process documentation, roadmap and plans, portfolio budget tracking, and portfolio updates

  • Effectively prioritize the work of the team, aligning to team & enterprise goals

  • Build impactful relationships with stakeholders across the enterprise

  • Understand, proactively identify, and communicate risks and trade-offs and drive executive-level discussions

  • Effectively build and lead a lean, highly effective team; provide leadership, mentoring, coaching, and career development planning for team members

  • Develop executive-level presentations and communications

  • Create impact through personal confidence, expertise and authority

  • Provide thought leadership in planning & portfolio management for the team and company

REQUIREMENTS:

Master's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Engineering, or related field of graduate study AND at least 15 years of demonstrated success/results in a portfolio management capacity (having overseen and managed multiple projects, created long term roadmaps, etc.).

Previous experience with Business to Business (B2B) and/or Business to Customer (B2C) software solutions (Salesforce, Constant Contact, etc.).

High levels of competency with: PowerPoint; Visio; Excel; Data visualization software, such as Tableau; Familiarity with Business Intelligence (BI) concepts (SQL, EDW, etc.).

Strong project management skills with exposure to PPM.

Excellent business planning and associated analytic skills.

Experience developing business plans and pitching to various audiences.

Experience with contract negotiations, evaluations, and responses.

Lean/Six Sigma Certifications preferred.

This individual is a problem solver who plays a critical role in defining and enabling business change. The UWM Finance Business Systems Analyst will work within cross-functional teams to identify, analyze, understand, and document business needs, processes, policy, and technology alternatives and develop the business cases and solution proposals that support decision-making among process/project owners. This individual will perform significant data and application analysis as well as business process analysis in an effort to automate manual processes, improve standardization, integration and quality. In addition, the UWM Finance Business Systems Analyst will implement comprehensive project management plans for initiatives and provide frequent, actionable communication to stakeholders to ensure programs advance as intended. This individual serves as an integral member of the UW Medicine Finance Business Systems (FBS) team. With a focus on supporting the efficient provision of high quality financial information to UWM, this position will serve as an internal customer relationship manager, acting as a direct channel of communication between technical personnel and business stakeholders. The UWM Finance Business Systems Analyst will be a key team member, directly involved in the design or modification of business and IT systems. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Business Systems Analysis In collaboration with the FBS, Accounting and Finance teams, reviews, analyzes and evaluates business systems and user needs – both within the major integration initiatives and beyond. Identifies and executes on opportunities to re-engineer and automate manual processes. Researches and analyzes existing data and applications using the ability to develop and enhance SQL queries, SSRS reports, and visualizations to isolate, debug, and improve the customer usage and outputs of the applications; Participates in the design of custom applications; Provides configuration and support for financial systems applications. Clarifies operational objectives by studying business functions; gathering information and evaluating output requirements and formats. Defines stakeholders, objectives, risks and success criteria.
