As part of the Wolters Kluwer Health Clinical Effectiveness team and based in the heart of Chicago, this role is critical to building and developing a leading patient engagement product portfolio, as well as a reporting solution across our healthcare portfolio, for a top global healthcare technology company.

In this newly created leadership role, the Senior Director Engineering will lead teams, across multiple sites, responsible for the development of a cloud based BI and Reporting solution as well as for the development and delivery of our suite of Patient Engagement products.
Reporting into to the VP Engineering for Clinical Effectiveness, this role will expand our capability in the healthcare ecosystem.
We are seeking a talented, high-energy Senior Director, with experience defining and building out highly scalable SaaS healthcare products.
Working together with a team of architects and engineers, this leader will drive the development of our products and reporting solutions.
And, this leader will work closely with other technology leaders throughout Wolters Kluwer, to support the integrated delivery of solutions to our customers.
You should be motivated to take on challenges of unknown dimensions and work hand in hand with designers, software developers, clinicians and customers to develop products all with the mission of improving patient outcomes.
This is a highly-visible leadership role within the $1B+ Wolters Kluwer Health division.
Essential Duties and responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:
  • Working closely with our Product Management team, continuously assess and develop strategies to drive the long term technology roadmap to support our business strategy, go-to-market plans, and product roadmap.

  • Build a world class engineering team by recruiting and developing high performing Architects, Engineers, and Test Engineers across multiple sites.

  • Drive talent recruiting and development, ensuring employees are challenged and successful.
    Set, evaluate, and manage performance goals for the team members.

  • Effectively lead to instill trust, empower team members, focus on business outcomes, and foster a learning culture.
    Help the team manage and resolve conflicts.

  • Increase engineering throughput and performance without compromising quality.

  • Maintain a customer-focused orientation and drive same within the Engineering organization.

  • Enable development of deep and thorough testing by positioning quality as an overall team responsibility.

  • Provide technical guidance ensuring team is fostering re-use, design for scale, stability, and operational efficiency of solutions.

  • Define and drive teams to follow architectural patterns, test practices, security standards, and standards for documentation.

  • Collaborate with Product Managers and Scrum Masters to ensure that work is dynamically prioritized, well executed, and highly transparent.
    Coach team members in agile engineering practices and continuous improvement.

  • Foster a DevOps culture, ensuring solutions can be built, tested, deployed and monitored in an efficient and automated manner.

  • Build strong relationships with key industry technology organizations, HIT partners, forums and thought leaders to remain current on leading healthcare technology trends, overall software development trends and developments as they may apply to the strategy and direction of our business.

  • Collaborate with technology leaders across business units throughout Wolters Kluwer to support the integrated delivery of multiple products to mutual customers.

  • Drive the decisions on and transitions to go-forward BI tools and technology across CE.

  • Research, evaluate, select, and integrate partner technology.
    Job Qualifications Education:

  • Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science or related field.

    Informed on engineering trends.

    Experience:

  • Strong leader with minimum 10 years of experience in managing, coaching, and leading senior level and mid-level staff including multi-functional teams across multiple sites.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience of successful and progressively responsible senior Engineering leadership for a commercial SaaS product company.

  • Demonstrated visionary leader.
    Ability to develop and cultivate a dynamic, progressive, and technologically advanced organization.

  • Demonstrated success attracting, developing, and retaining talented technology professionals.

  • Proven track record to drive complex initiatives to completion on time and on budget.
    Proven capability of managing multiple priorities effectively and performing under tight deadlines.

  • Knowledge of and experience with Agile methodologies and a scaled Agile methodology.
    Experience leading an agile implementation preferred.
