Position Summary

With a focus on driving a positive Customer's experience, this individual is responsible for the strategic and tactical leadership of STERIS's global or domestic distribution network. The individual will collaborate with key stakeholders to create and maintain a flexible and responsive supply chain to deliver products across the country and globe to Customers. The leader will direct and oversee compliance activities related to import and export trade regulations, hazardous materials, ensuring top tier quality, performance, and cost optimizations. Lead and manage initiatives to consistently improve service levels, reducing costs through innovation, and maintaining highest possible safety environment. Communicate performance, resolve issues, and seek VOC with executive leadership.

What you will do

  • Develop, lead, and implement the distribution strategy, ensuring cross functional interactions and connectivity with business units, supply chain, and Customer facing teams.

  • Lead senior management in direct responsibilities for distribution centers or regions. Within the warehousing and logistics network, oversee the policy deployment of Lean techniques, quality, cost reductions, complete and on-time delivery, safety, customer satisfaction, employee relations, visual controls, and performance measurements.

  • In line with ISO/FDA controls, approves required record-keeping and data management systems. Directs team and senior management on input for warehouse designs and logistics. Ensure the global trade management system meets compliance requirements.

  • Lead a positive work environment by promoting established safety practices and enforcing these practices. Review monthly operational reports and heads the site's Central Safety Committee.

  • Identify, secure approvals for, and direct the implementation of capital improvement projects.

  • Serves as the department's leader with the Environmental, Health and Safety, and other internal and external agencies/groups. Leads and acts as a change agent corporate security measure for the facility, products, and human resources. Participate with regional/global warehouse footprint studies to ensure optimized design and capabilities.

  • Acts as a leader and example for effective management with Senior Leaders and employees, focusing on productivity, attendance, and general order required for the efficient operation of the Distribution Centers.

  • Owns and is accountable for departmental budgets, expenditures, and site management. Presents monthly operating performance metrics, semi-annual Management Review Board reports, and other operational summaries in coordination with distribution senior management.

  • Ensure appropriate levels of supply are shipped to each warehouse point, optimizing shipping costs, minimizing days on hand, and maximizing Customer service levels. Coordinates inventory cycle count activities. Prepare annual department operating objectives, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions.

  • Provide leadership and direction around solutions for evolving Customer delivery requirements.

  • Monitor key performance measures applicable to S&OP execution and execute action plans with distribution senior management. Direct the implementation of capital improvement projects.

What you will need to be successful

  • Bachelor's Degree - in Business or Operations/Supply Chain related discipline

  • 15+ years' experience in warehousing, domestic and global transportation, shipping/receiving or other operations/supply chain function

  • Leading teams of 200+, inventory control, standard work development, compliance, budgets, and P&L ownership

  • 12+ years supervisory or management experience

  • Ability to lead business strategies and create buy in with executive team and all levels of the organization in a clear, efficient, and effective manner

  • 5+ years Lean experience

  • 5+ years handling, storing, and shipping hazardous materials

  • Experience working in a regulated industry

  • Experience working in union environment

  • Project management experience

  • Multi-site responsibilities, which includes global reach and complex sites (i.e. size, union)

  • Demonstrated high level of performance, professionalism, confidentiality, and integrity

  • Ability to see how separate functions within the larger Supply Chain group work together to optimize, landed cost, inventory value and OTD
