Position Overview

The SD of Business Planning, Store Planning, and Allocations is responsible for the successful development, communication and execution of topline financial plans and forecasts (Inventory, Sales, Gross Margin and related KPI's). This role is responsible for Store Planning and direction given by channel, by store at the Brand Division Level. The SD also leads and implements Distribution and Allocation strategies, resulting in highly effective allocations and the efficient use of inventories.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Financial Planning

  • Responsible for the development of topline sales and gross margin forecasts handed off to Corporate Finance

  • Partner with VP, Finance in developing Annual Budgets and Long Range Plans (Inventory, Sales, Gross Margin, Key KPI's)

  • Analyze historical and trending KPI's, calendar shifts and promotional/markdown cadences, to develop KPI's that support topline forecast

  • Ongoing evaluation/comparison of topline (top down), product and store (bottoms up) forecasts; calling out risks or opportunities

  • Oversee the reconciliation process of Financial Budget goals and ensure alignment of Merchandise plans

  • Responsible for the development and management of processes that support the analysis and reporting on results of key promotions

  • Collaborate on promotional calendar in conjunction with RLE

Store Planning

  • Direct the development, execution and communication of store and online sales and gross margin plans that support the merchandising, marketing and financial objectives of the Company; accounting for significant regional events, weather anomalies, calendar shifts, store events etc.

  • Develop strategies and tools to monitor store/division capacity guidelines, ensuring appropriate in-store inventory levels and product flow to stores

  • Lead Store Planning team in the development of processes and tools that result in the analysis and recommendation of space allocation/reallocation by product category; providing increased intelligence for use in capital investment decisions (new stores, remodels, expansions, space reallocation)

  • Develop and implement strategies for the efficient flow of product to space reallocation, remodel, expansion and new stores; minimizing impact to ongoing business

  • Partner with Store Operations and Workforce Management; providing store forecasts for payroll/staffing

Distribution & Allocation

  • Lead and implement Distribution and Allocation strategies, resulting in highly effective allocations and the efficient use of inventories

  • Oversee the execution of appropriate Allocation strategies; leverage information from Brand Presentation, Buying, and Merchandise Planning organizations to understand weekly strategies

  • Lead Distribution & Allocations team in identifying and developing best practices to guild Allocation strategy while minimizing time and potential for error

  • Lead the development of inventory targets that will result in allocation specific guidance to ensure capacity management is balanced with inventory optimization

  • Lead the collaboration with Planning, Buying, and Distribution Center teams to seasonally transition stores profitably and effectively; partner closely with department leaders to align cross-functional processes to objectives

  • Lead as the primary point of contact within the Planning & Distribution department, for the Ralph Lauren Supply Chain team

Talent Management

  • Manage the Business Planning, Store Planning, and Allocation teams, and provide leadership by creating a collaborative, innovative and results-oriented environment; Ensure each functional area can actively participate in and lead a collaborative process

  • Develop business processes to facilitate timely decision-making and serve as subject-matter expert for process improvements

  • Serve as Business Lead for the development, implementation and training for Merchandising, Planning and Allocation Business Intelligence tools and drive proactive business adoption for maximized use and performance

  • Support the career and skill development of direct reports and greater team by providing them with the appropriate resources and training, to ensure job satisfaction and minimize turnover

  • Enterprise Planning - Global planning system used to forecast sales and inventory.

  • JDA Allocation

  • Island Pacific.

  • PromoMD - Used to enter promotions and markdowns that interface into Island Pacific.

  • GBIS - Global reporting tool used to provide visibility to key sales metrics.

  • Microsoft Office Suite

  • Kronos/WFM - Work Force Management tool for time entry of hourly employees.

  • GFE+

Education

  • Bachelor's (B.A. or B.S.)

Experience

  • 7-10 years of Corporate/Business Planning and/or Retail Planning experience

  • 6+ years of management experience

  • Merchandise Planning and Allocation experience required
