Senior Director, Analytical Chemistry

The Position

Verve is seeking Senior Director, Analytical Chemistry to support Analytical Research Development Operations. The individual will lead a team of scientists and associates to develop and implement analytical methods for candidates in discovery pipeline and support/collaborate method development activities for early clinical candidates. This individual will be working as an analytical subject matter expert to design and develop appropriate analytical methods to support Verve's growing gene editing pipeline. The position will be part of an integrated R&D team that aims to advance preclinical gene editing candidates into the clinic and work closely with discovery and process development teams.

Job Responsibilities

• Function as a technical lead within the analytical development team working on structural characterization of gRNAs, mRNAs and lipid nanoparticle (LNP) complexes.

• Function as an Analytical SME for Verve's growing pipeline candidates. Design/develop and direct method development and verification activities.

• Partner closely with colleagues in research, discovery, and technology development to develop and implement analytical methodologies to support early stage accelerated candidate screening to clinical lead candidate selection.

• Communicate and present analytical data in Analytical R&D meetings and other cross-functional settings.

• Partner with peers within the analytical development and CMC team to execute complex characterization studies; serve as the analytical lead in cross-functional interactions.

• Accountable for design, and development, of critical analytical methods for lead clinical candidates and transferring it to Analytical Development team for phase-appropriate qualification.

• Lead the analytical research and development team including communication a vision, sharing strategies & plans, hiring, managing performance, engaging and developing the team.

• Effectively manage multiple projects to ensure timely delivery.

• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in analytical chemistry (preferred), or a related life sciences field with 11+ years of experience in Analytical Research and Development. At least 5 of those years leading a team.

• Prior experience must include Design and perform analytical assays to support the development of lead molecules; troubleshoot and optimize analytical assays.

• Extensive experience with oligonucleotide therapeutics

• Ability to design, communicate, and execute project plans within an aggressive timeline

• Ability to contribute to management team in the form of process feasibility, resourcing, and execution plan

• Experienced in project management and cross team coordination to increase efficiency

• Excellent problem-solving skills and verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to work by influencing peers and their reports and gain their cooperation in dealing with multiple priorities in the delivery of projects.
