The Mayor's Office Creative Communications team is responsible for generating social media products primarily based on Mayoral policy and events. Our mission is to make content that adds value to New Yorkers' lives, encourages engagement, and illuminates the story of how the administration's policies affect everyday people. We work on everything from large, policy-driven campaigns to rapid-response tweets, photo essays, and Facebook Live events. This is a rare opportunity for a driven, politically passionate, and talented writer to collaborate closely with a group of notable content creators, award- winning photographers, and videographers from a unique position within the NYC government. In addition to being a strong collaborator, we are looking for someone who can independently generate ideas.
The Senior Digital Strategist will be responsible for developing and implementing strategy for a talented group of digital media creators as well as the creative direction for the entire Creative Communications team as a whole.
Responsibilities will include:
Minimum Qualifications
(1) A baccalaureate degree, with a major in fine or graphic arts, from an accredited college and one year of full-time paid experience as a commercial or graphic artist; or
(2) A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent plus two years of training in a technical school approved by a state's Department of Education or comparable governmental agency, in oils, water colors, painting, design, black and white, layout, computer graphics, and other art media, and three years of acceptable full-time paid experience as a commercial or graphic artist.
To be qualified for assignment to Assignment Level II, individuals must have:
(a) at least one year of experience as a Graphic Artist, Assignment Level I; or
(b) the Qualification Requirements described in "1" or "2" above, plus two additional years of acceptable specialized paid experience conceptualizing and initiating graphic art projects.

This is the ideal position for someone who has a wealth of experience with user experience, digital strategy, data analytics, campaigns, and is excited by the challenge of creating informative and compelling content to communicate with everyday New Yorkers. This is a rare opportunity for a driven, politically passionate and creative thinker to collaborate closely with a group of notable content creators, award-winning photographers and video producers from a unique position within City government. We are seeking an innovative leader who is comfortable analyzing data and then generating and pitching ideas based on that data and other trends. Must be a strong collaborator. The successful candidate should possess the following: - Degree in journalism, communications or film- Experience leading digital campaigns- Working knowledge of a variety of social media platforms, including YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and Snapchat, and experience leveraging such platforms to expand the reach of videos- Strong attention to detail- Experience handling multiple projects and performing a wide variety of tasks under deadline pressures- Ability to respond quickly to changing priorities.

Residency Requirement
New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
