At Xbox Game Studios, we are hard at work continuing the great legacy of Age of Empires, our beloved RTS franchise. We are a passionate group responsible for this amazing franchise and are expanding our team looking for a wonderful colleague that will be responsible for ensuring that our amazing fans will always be able to access the services they love.

Wanted! Senior DevOps Engineer!

Must have a strong background in designing, building, and operating large scale service infrastructure. We're looking for someone with strong communication skills and a self-driven approach to work, capable both directing external teams and jumping in and coding when needed. The ideal candidate understands first party development, enjoys collaborating with internal and external partners, and has a track record for delivering high quality software with a passion for operational excellence. A qualified applicant must have experience developing and maintaining large scale, reliable, secure online services and the tools needed to run them.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related degree, or equivalent work experience

  • 6+ years professional development experience shipping and maintaining services

  • Proven experience with Linux and cloud computing technologies

  • Experience developing REST services

  • Experience with Python, shell scripting, Ansible, Packer

  • Experience with a continuous delivery model of deploying services

  • Strong knowledge of low level networking fundamentals & troubleshooting tools.

  • Passion for games and technology

  • Self-motivated and comfortable working in a fast paced environment

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally

Bonus skills:

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science or related field

  • Experience with C++, Java, and Azure

  • Experience working with external partners

  • Experience with game services

Required * 7+ years of strong, demonstrable development skills * BS or higher degree in Computer Science or related discipline Preferred * Execution skills (self-direction, drive for results, individual accountability) * Ability to quickly ramp up on new service offerings and OSS components * Knowledge of at least one modern programming language (C#, Java, Go, Rust, Python, JS, Ruby, C++) * Knowledge of popular programming frameworks (OSS and/or .NET) * Linux system administration experience * Experience with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) * Experience developing, deploying, and managing distributed applications on popular cloud vendors' platforms * Contributor to open source projects Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
