The Senior DevOps Engineer is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, maintenance, and implementation of Horizon and CBORD's hosted infrastructure on Amazon Web Services (AWS). This individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values, enabling staff, and partners. This position is responsible for the technical design, planning, implementation, and performance tuning for Horizon and CBORD's mission critical enterprise systems. In addition, the individual will employ project leadership and management skills to provide the highest level of service to the customers of the department. This individual must provide feedback proactively and effectively with team members and management on issues, often the prime spokesperson on highly significant matters.

What You'll be Doing

  • Architect, implement and maintain both Linux-based and Windows Server systems in a highly available customer facing environment on AWS

  • Manage hosted PCI/HIPAA infrastructure and associated policies/procedures

  • Follow proper change management procedures (patches, updates, etc.) in production environments for audit purposes

  • Perform annual onsite PCI / HIPAA security audits with assigned Quality Security Assessors

  • Design and develop CI/CD Pipeline to automate deployment, management, and monitoring

  • Design/implement complex local and wide-area networks of machines

  • Establish/recommend policies on system use and services

  • Monitor system/network load and recommend a plan for growth

  • Maintain and test Disaster Recovery plan

  • Liaison between different groups while deploying application code into staging and production

  • environments

  • Install/upgrade CBORD and Horizon Software developed applications

  • Serve as a technical expert in the area of system administration for complex environments

  • Participate in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the

  • infrastructure

  • May coach and mentor staff

What You'll Bring to the Table

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, computer science, or a related field is preferred

  • 6 years of experience as a System Administrator is desired

  • 4 years Web server administration (Linux and Windows) experience is desired

  • 4 years of experience supporting mission-critical infrastructure on local and hosted servers is preferred

  • 4 years of experience administrating Relational Database Systems is preferred

  • Windows and Linux administration experience is desired

  • AWS administration experience is desired

  • Experience preferred in a PCI and HIPAA compliant environment

  • Experience in building minimal, secured systems a plus

  • Ability to focus on details and follow through on complex projects

  • Interpret and/or discuss information with others, which involves terminology or concepts not familiar to many people

  • Strong understanding of networking technologies and secure communication protocols (e.g. SSH, SSL, VPNs)

  • Familiarity with PHP, Apache Tomcat and one or more relational database system (PostgreSQL,

  • MySQL, and Microsoft SQL Server) a plus

  • Strong Shell scripting skills, preferably with Python, Bash and PowerShell is desired

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team or autonomously keeping the team informed

  • Ability to solve problems quickly and automate processes

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under minimal supervision

What's Good to Know

  • Scheduled night and weekend work is required, sometimes with little advanced notice

  • Occasional travel, usually no more than 5-15 days per year

  • This role works within the DevOps team, as well as directly with customer support on client issues, as well as development on product.

  • Regular discussion with Product Management and IT management is expected.

The customers are often high profile, complex, and/or challenging. This position can serve as a mentor and resource to other team members. What You'll be Doing * Direct and perform CBORD/Horizon systems installation at client sites. * Prepare for onsite installations by * Reviewing all documentation provided by the System Implementation Coordinators * Create customer specific site agendas for the installation and staff training, if required. * Analyze database to customer specific requirements. * During the onsite installation * Complete daily status updates. * Document customer issues with the Implementation Services Coordinator * Post- installation * Write a detailed trip report. * Transition open issues to System Implementation Coordinator. * Mentor team members on business process, implementation and installation best practices, and technology. * Serve as a subject matter expert learning new technology/products as introduced by product management and assessing the impact on best practices and timelines. * Complete special projects, as assigned; project may include maintenance programming, database administration, testing, quality assurance, documentation, or installations/upgrades. * Work closely with supporting CBORD/Horizon teams including support and product management. * Submit weekly workload metrics in CBORD/Horizon's time tracking tool.
