Where the team fits in

The Contracting squad falls within the Customer Commercial Platform tribe in the Customer Product group. The contracting squad is responsible for maintaining the systems that enables flexible digital product configuration and stores critical contract information between REA and the customers. The Customer Commercial Platform tribe is collectively responsible for delivering a great platform that the market facing teams can use to deliver great products to our customers

What the role is all about

As a Senior Developer on a 12-month fixed term contract you will be responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining our products in a collaborative team and cross team environment. You will be expected to implement solutions using a variety of programming languages, databases and cloud technologies. You will follow agile software development practices such as test-driven development, continuous delivery and pair programming. As a senior member of the team, you will play an active role in mentoring junior developers and contributing to improving the teams development processes.

You will form a part of a small cross-functional team and will contribute to the success of the Contracting team's mission.

Responsibilities:

• Coding, testing and deploying new software products using a variety of technologies and platforms.

• Building high quality solutions that meet the needs of our users

• Contribute to technical design and team practices

• Mentoring junior colleagues

• Lead small to medium initiatives or slices of large initiatives

• Contribute to technical design

• Write and facilitate ADRs (Architectural Decision Records) and IPRs (Interested Party Reviews)

• Supporting production systems

• Share learnings and knowledge

• Ensure code quality by influencing a standard, having a consistent style and loosely coupled code

• Perform code reviews to ensure quality and correctness

• Maintaining existing products, including bug fixes and "Business As Usual" feature enhancements.

Who we're looking for

• Experience in a Senior Developer role

• An ability to communicate effectively with your team and business stakeholders

• Developed skills in one or more of our main programming languages

• Ruby and TypeScript.

• Developed skills in modern software development techniques such as functional programming, OO design, test driven development, micro-services and continuous delivery.

• Developed skills in building full stack web systems using cloud technologies

• AWS preferred.

• Knowledge in other operational tooling, such as CI/CD tools and Docker

• A team first mindset and a commitment to upskilling colleagues

• Able to be effective in a collaborative team environment.

• Tertiary qualification in Computer Science or similar highly desirable.

• Looks at tricky situations through a solutions-focused lens

• Work productively in a fast paced and agile environment
