Under general supervision of the Associate Director of Marketing and Communications, support the design needs of both Campus Recreation and Unions and the UC Davis Stores. Participate in the development of marketing campaigns and projects to accomplish the goals and objectives of each department.
This position is instrumental in conceiving and creating graphic designs for advertising, websites, brochures, newsletters, signage, email, social media, educational materials and electronic communications. Responsible for the production, layout, and design of artistic promotional pieces the department will produce using the Adobe Creative Suite of design software, pre-press production of artwork, delivery of accurate digital files to print vendors, and preparation of reports and updates. Lead for 3-4 student assistants.
Sit for extended periods at a computer workstation.
Lift and maneuver supplies up to 50 pounds.
Work occasional overtime, including weekends.

Experience using artistic talent and skills to create original conceptual approaches to satisfy design needs of retail operations utilizing traditional printed deliverables as well as digital channels.
Skills to create art and illustrations within client's expectations, timeline and budget.
Project management experience.
Experience designing and optimizing web graphics.
Skills to direct photo shoots and determine standards for acceptable photos.
Experience designing brochures, displays, newsletters, posters, signs, advertisements etc.
Working knowledge of the following software programs: Adobe Acrobat, After Effects, Audition, Bridge, Contribute, Dreamweaver, Encore, Fireworks, Flash, Illustrator, InDesign, Media Encoder, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, iMovie, iPhoto, Keynote, Microsoft Office Suite.
Organizational skills to prioritize competing short term and long term project deadlines.
Knowledge of marketing principles and practices.
Familiarity with HTML and email design.
Experience in an ecommerce environment.
Experience in a university recreation setting.
Familiarity with a retail operation in a University environment.
Customer service skills.
