SUMMARY

The Senior Designer will be responsible for designing, developing and presenting products for multiple brands and product categories. Conducts marketplace research, trend analysis and R&D to support forward thinking ideas. Creates realistic CAD's for concept presentations, technical specifications and other graphic communications. Manages product development from original concept to approved samples through domestic and international factory correspondence. This position works closely with cross functional teams to ensure brand integrity and achievement of business goals. Leads engaging and meaningful presentations both internally and externally. Must have refined creative vision for trends and product, while working independently to drive business forward.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Major responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborates with Design and Brand team to create seasonal buyer presentations

  • Conducts independent marketplace research including competitive overview, inspiration and trend analysis. Partners with Design team to present conceptual vision bases on these findings and data to cross functional teams

  • Creates original concepts through above research, while aligning to brand identity and strategic initiatives

  • Utilizes Adobe & 3D rendering programs to generate unique designs, technical specifications, and construction details

  • Manages product development life cycle from initial concept to approved samples

  • Evaluates all samples for pattern, measurement and construction details against technical specifications. Communicates comments and approvals to factories

  • Engages with Innovation team and manages independent R&D to provide healthy pipeline of fresh ideas

  • Adhere to company policies, including attendance and punctuality

  • Communicate with co-workers, management and others in a courteous and professional manner;

  • Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions including but not limited to confidentiality requirements.

Qualifications

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Team player with strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

  • Self-starter, with the ability to work independently efficiently and effectively

  • Enthusiastic and professional presentation style

  • Positive attitude and disciplined work ethic

  • Demonstrated problem solving skills

  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast paced environment while producing high quality work

  • Highly organized and detail oriented

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Associates Degree or higher degree in design, textiles, or product development. Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • 7-10 years of design and CAD experience related to apparel, accessories or graphic design industries required

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

  • Proficient in Illustrator and Photoshop

  • Proficiency in 3D rendering programs such as Apex and CLO is preferred, basic experience is workable

  • PDM and/or PLM experience is a plus

  • Experience aligning to brand identities, target markets and retail price ranges

  • Knowledge and understanding of sock machinery is a plus

  • Willing to travel on occasion to assist with meetings or trend research
