We are seeking a Senior Designer to become a part of the HIROTEC AMERICA family.

This person is responsible for preparing and developing major design layouts of complex tooling fixtures. In addition, the individual will propose/ develop new design concepts, making all necessary design computations, revising and checking design for operational safety, and follow build and installation as requested.


  • Prepare and review designs and related specifications to include all standard components used in each tool.
  • Ability to compare product data to process for correctness, layout product data, and produce 3d designs, per requirements on a regular basis.
  • Work effectively in a team environment by reviewing and checking other team members design projects and provide solutions for manufacturability.
  • Maintain strong familiarity with specific customer CAD data integrity requirements and apply as required.
  • Participate in design reviews with internal and external customers.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree and/or minimum ten years design experience specializing in automotive Body In White automotive processing and tooling. Knowledge in manufacturing drawing reading skills and CAD design on several systems (UGNX, AutoCAD, IDEAS, CATIA) along with leadership skills. Strong knowledge of Automotive Industry (closures/BIW - OEM preferred), strong computer skills (Microsoft Office Products) and technical aptitude with problem solving skills. Exceptional interpersonal/ communication skills, and must possess strong organizational skills, teamwork and leadership skills.

VIEW JOBS 8/2/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-10-31T00:00 The Senior Designer position will be located in the Propulsion Technical Center in Auburn Hills, Michigan. Responsible for creating and revising 3D math models and drawings using NX Computer Aided Design, for automotive drivetrain components. Create Stacks and Stack Drawings. Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing to Drawings. Interface between Design Manager and Product Engineers to complete tasks. Will be responsible for multiple job assignments at a time. Primary products are Electric Vehicle powertrains and 4WD systems. KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Develop and maintain 3D math models, sub-assemblies, modules, and drawings of automotive drivetrain components using NX Computer Aided Design (CAD) software. * Design components from a variety of manufacturing processes: Castings, forgings, stampings, powdered metal, machined turned components, molded plastics. * Create math models using sketcher and parametric modeling. * Create detail, sub-assembly and assembly drawings using ASME standards. * Create exploded view drawings. * Interpret information from Engineering: sketches, marked prints, catalog references, layouts and other information. * Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing to drawings. * Create Tolerance Stack Ups using Excel and create Stack path details. * Checking of drawings of other Designers in support of assigned projects. * Material selection, standards, and use knowledge. * Must complete assigned tasks within established project timelines.
