The Opportunity

This position works out of our Liberty, SC location in the Cardiac Rhythm Management division.

As a global leader in Cardiac Rhythm Technologies, we focus on innovative technologies that can improve the way doctors treat people with heart arrhythmias, or irregular heartbeats.

Senior Design Engineer is responsible for designing production tooling in low and high volume processes.

What You'll Work On

  • Interface with internal customers to provide mechanical design support for manufacturing as well as providing measurement techniques.

  • Support R&D development.

  • Evaluate process and design alternatives based on design for Manufacturability principles.

  • Interface with vendors on procuring materials, services, and equipment.

  • Troubleshoot new and existing tooling or automated equipment.

  • Develop programs and perform layouts on tooling and components using a CMM or other inspection equipment deemed necessary.

  • Understand GD&T and its application.

  • Review tooling and data layout to determine if tooling or components are acceptable, or if modifications are required prior to putting the tool or component in service.

  • Where appropriate, recommend changes to dimensions, datums, etc. which simplify or improve prints or facilitate improved process capability.

  • Support all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements.

  • Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING

  • Associates Degree Related with 10-15 years relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and work experience

  • Bachelors Degree Engineering OR an equivalent combination of education and work experience

  • Must have experience with designing and fabricating automated production equipment for low and high volume processes.

  • Experience with general automation and control concepts along with machine vision systems and PLC software programming(preferred).

  • CAD software skills are also required (ProE, SolidWorks, and AutoCAD).

  • Experience writing routines and using CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) and VMM (Vision Measuring Machine) is preferred. Must be capable of viewing all products and tooling accurately, regardless of point of origin and product type in a timely and professional manner.

  • Good communication skills and the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.

  • Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model preferred. Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment. Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment. Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects. Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization. Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner. Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.

  • Ability to travel, including internationally(only if required).

Preferred Qualifications :

  • ProE and/or SolidWorks CAD software experience

  • CMM Manger software (CMM programming software)

  • QVPAK software (VMM programming software)

  • Applicable ASQ certification

The base pay for this position is $72,700.00 - $145,300.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
