The primary purpose of this role is to handle and diagnose application performance issues, technical aspects of high-profile escalations, as well as working directly with clients and partnering with development to diagnose the issues involving system/data recovery which impacts the performance and availability of a Sunrise Enterprise.

Responsibilities

Consultants would be able to employ their cross-functional knowledge and expertise in all technologies that comprise the application infrastructure, in order to establish the factors influencing performance and develop plans for addressing them. This is accomplished by:

  • Troubleshooting pathways, collection of diagnostic information using BMC Appsight, Sunrise Performance Troubleshooting Kit, ADPlus, ProcMon, Wireshark, Microsoft performance and diagnostic software and other tools

  • Cross-reference diagnostic information with various baselines, previously obtained data, design specifications and the empirical testing results

  • Research the Knowledge Base, interacting with Development teams, Microsoft Premier and Alliance Support, Citrix Support, VMWare Support, Cisco Support, Cerner Multum Support etc. in order to correlate the diagnostic findings with the already developed solutions

  • Collaborate with Development teams, Microsoft Premier and Alliance Support, Citrix Support, VMWare Support, Cisco Support, Cerner Multum Support in developing a solution for new issues

  • Provide technical support during the implementation delivery process including triaging and troubleshooting reported by customer and implementation team

Consultants would be able to assist our clients with issues related to performance optimization through services such as:

  • Performance monitoring, measurements and capacity planning of Production Software solutions, recommending changes to Allscripts products and "standardized" System configurations

  • Working with clients to implement and improve the database infrastructure environment

  • Provide one-time support services to IT staff of our clients, troubleshooting and resolving database and infrastructure problems

  • During such interaction, they would be able to teach clients the best practices in environment optimization and maintenance requirements necessary to keep client systems working at a high level of speed and reliability

  • Implement and teach prescribed practices in performance management and capacity planning for systems, as identified through performance testing within Allscripts, to ensure the necessary system capacity and performance is available as required

A significant portion of the job is dedicated towards improving the tools, methodology and the knowledge database that would benefit entire client base. This is accomplished by:

  • Regular contribution to Knowledge Base with FAQ/FYI Knowledge Articles

  • Regular revisions, grouping and phasing out of existing KAs.

  • Interacting with Development within the cases, SRBs and other forums for the purpose of envisioning, developing and improving diagnostic tools and methodologies

  • Interact with product development to improve on current design or to identify possible problems with design

  • Stay abreast of current technology in products, design changes, and new products offered

  • Development of new procedures and policies to improves services.

  • Training Customers and Allscripts Staff in Performance team areas of expertise

Qualifications

Academic and professional qualifications:

  • 4 year degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or combination of equivalent skills and experience

  • Microsoft certifications in SQL or Windows Server technologies (MCTS, MCITP)

Experience:

  • Administering and troubleshooting SQL 2008/2012-based client/server applications including SQL Server Reporting Services.

  • Proficiency with Transact-SQL.

  • Expertise with Microsoft Server technologies and high availability and redundancy solutions, such as Failover Clustering, SAN and virtualization technologies.

  • Experience in system administration of large, mission-critical computer systems, including installation and configuration of software products.

  • Professional software support at second or third level (advanced troubleshooting and technical support) is a definite asset.

  • Understanding of software development process and client/server and SOA concepts.

  • Virtualization technologies

  • Storage Area Networking (SAN)

Travel requirements:

  • Some travel for business is required

Working arrangements:

  • Position also requires after-hours, on-call support

  • Work is performed in a standard office environment with minimal exposure to health and safety hazards

This position is responsible for the support of all internal and remote/virtual associates of SIS. This position will troubleshoot associate workstations as well as application support, operating system support, back-up processes, configuration of new hires, and managing support tickets. This job is responsible for providing database analysis/design, management and day-to-day administration of the reporting databases within a BI environment This may involve working with SIS internal business process owners, business SME's (i.e. subject matter experts) and IT teams to manage data loads or other database activities, analysis of the reporting/ business intelligence tools to ensure optimal use of database. ESSENTIAL DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES: * Managing the database artifacts and providing subject matter expertise on best practices for creation, deployment and ongoing management of databases in a reporting/BI environment * Monitoring daily/other database jobs (SSIS) and data loads and proactive resolution of issues to ensure maximum up-time/availability of database for reporting * Designing databases and some data sourcing/ETL requirements for efficient use in reporting and BI * Performing routine database administration activities including setup login credentials for users & administer general security measures on database, to resolve and troubleshoot database access/other database issues, handle the backing up process of the database & its inspection * Provide support and participate in design and implementation of ETL processes and procedure Database Management/Administration – 70-80% of time includes the following activities: * Design & Develop dimensional and normalized data models describing data elements and how they are used, following standard data modeling practices for a Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence platform. Write and code logical and physical database descriptions and specify identifiers of database creating a data dictionary. * Build database schema, tables, procedures and users/user access levels for each segment of database and modify existing databases and database management systems. Setup database for appropriate data sharing and disk partitioning, test programs or databases, correct errors and make necessary modifications. * Oversee backup, clustering, mirroring, replication and fail-over. Restore and recover corrupted databases. Implement security and encryption to the database and data source files to safeguard information against accidental or unauthorized use, modification or disclosure. Approve, schedule, plan, and supervise the installation and testing of new data sourcing packages/jobs and improvements to existing data acquisition including setup of new data sources. * Analyze, consolidate and tune database for optimal efficiency, monitor systems and platforms for availability, monitor database jobs for timely and accurate completion, and monitor capacity and performance of database and jobs for effective up-time and response time to the consumers of the data. * Work as part of a project team to coordinate database development and determine project scope and limitations. Review project requests describing database user needs to estimate time required to accomplish project. Support ETL Design & Implementation – 20-30% of time includes the following activities: * Support development of the ETL architecture/design and developing a solution in highly demanding environment. Identify, recommend and implement best practice ETL process and architecture improvements * Implement, maintain and enhance ETL solution fulfilling data quality, availability, data freshness and performance requirements, working with the business & data analysts to understand the business requirements to be fulfilled by the data, assessing requirements for completeness and accuracy. * Develop methods for integrating different data sources so they work properly together, such as customizing standard source system/product databases to fit specific needs. Analyze and interpret all complex data on target system and analyze and provide resolutions to all data issues and coordinate with analysts to validate all requirements * Strong OLAP experience required * 4-year degree (or equivalent experience) in IT, Computer Science, or Business Intelligence * 4+ Year of DBA experience with Microsoft SQL Server/Azure * Strong ability to communicate problems that occur to a technical and business audience * Preferred – Certification in SQL Server development/ETL design & development * Expert level knowledge of Database Administration for MSSQL Server. * Excellent knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, and integrity. Capable of troubleshooting common database issues. * Experience in Performance Tuning and Optimization, including both query and server optimization, using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools. * Skilled at writing and optimizing large complicated SQL statements. * Expertise in understanding complex business needs, analyzing, designing and developing solutions. * Advanced communication and professional skills and the ability to establish relationships across business units. * Ability to participate in an on-call support rotation and provide non-standard work hour support. * Knowledge of High Availability and Disaster Recovery options for MSSQL Server. * Hands-on development experience in SQL Server 2012/2016. * Experience with SSIS, SSRS We believe employees are our greatest asset and we empower them to make a difference in our business.
