POSITION OVERVIEW

The Senior Database Administrator (Oracle Applications) reports to the Manager, Database Administration and is responsible for the installation, administration, upgrade, migration, implementation, and performance tuning of various Oracle Databases and Applications releases.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Manage and support multiple Development, Test and Production environments on Oracle applications.

  • Perform clones, patching, and code migrations as necessary to support business requirements.

  • Provide and maintain comprehensive documentation on database systems, configurations, processes and standards.

  • Support 24/7 applications with strong understanding of backup and recovery best practices.

  • Collaborate with the IT application teams to ensure database requirements are met.

  • Protect data integrity and security through access control and regular security reviews.

  • Participate in an on-call rotation and work nights and weekends as needed.

KNOWLEDGE

  • Strong level of knowledge in installation and maintenance of Oracle Applications and Oracle Databases.

  • Experience installing, upgrading, and supporting Oracle EBS.

  • Knowledge of applying product specific patches and post-installation patches for different Apps modules.

  • Strong experience and knowledge in configuration and support of Oracle web server, Form server, Concurrent processing server, and Apache web server.

  • Knowledge of Oracle Access Management, Oracle Identity Management, and SSO.

QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS)

  • Education and Certifications: Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related discipline. May consider equivalent training and experience in lieu of degree.

  • Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of experience as an Oracle Applications DBA, with a proven track record of successfully managing Oracle Applications environments.

  • Hands on experience supporting Oracle E-Business suite

  • Extensive experience with cloning R12 instances using all available cloning methods

  • Proficiency in applying product-specific patches and post-installation patches for various Oracle Applications modules

  • Familiarity with tools such as Oracle Enterprise Manager

  • Implementation of comprehensive Backup/Restore mechanisms, such as RMAN and Shell scripting

  • Knowledge of Linux operating systems

  • Experience supporting Oracle RAC environments

  • Previous involvement in Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery planning, testing, and execution

  • Ability to open, manage, and resolve Oracle SRs

  • Knowledge of MySQL a plus

  • Skills:

  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Excellent customer service skills to support all personnel.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively, lead projects, and manage multiple activities with accuracy and timeliness.

  • Willingness and enthusiasm for learning new skills, technology, and adapting to different situations and conditions.

  • Ability to perform professionally and effectively in high-pressure environments.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills.

WORK CONDITIONS

  • Work is primarily conducted in a typical office environment, subject to time pressures, constraints, and input from others.

  • May encounter stressful situations.

  • Subject to drug and alcohol testing as per applicable federal regulations.

  • Occasional travel required to support disaster recovery testing.

  • Ability to work outside normal workdays and standard office hours when necessary.

  • Participate in on-call rotation.
