Position Description:
Provides end-to-end support of physical database design, deployment, data replication, performance tuning and security using Db2 on z/OS, Oracle, and Kafka. Deploys and maintains the database virtualization environment across the enterprise and protects sensitive data. Performs application deployment and analyzes Cloud database management systems usage patterns using database technologies -- SQL, IBM, and Db2. Performs application database administration using Oracle services, SQL, REXX, JCL, COBOL code review, and Linux shell scripting. Modifies existing databases and database management systems. Collaborates with programmers and analysts to make changes as necessary.
Primary Responsibilities:
Designs and implements complex databases and business critical designs.
Automates recoverability for non-highly available databases.
Provides expertise to define complex database and data warehousing methodologies.
Ensures capacity management and performance tuning of assigned database.
Establishes project plans for projects of moderate scope.
Identifies users and situations that may be hazardous to the system/network.
Defines security requirements and operational procedures to ensure compliance with security framework.
Identifies environment (operational or application) modifications to improve security.
Diagnoses and troubleshoots storage problems.
Monitors and reports on the progress of change implementation efforts.
Assesses readiness of the new system for conversion, including routine procedures, system administration, recovery and restart scenarios, error procedures, distribution of software releases, distribution of data, and network management.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Senior Database Administrator (or closely related occupation) performing Db2 z/OS Database Administration using CA tools or replication methods (CDC/Qrep).
Or, alternatively, Master's degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and one (1) year of experience as a Senior Database Administrator (or closely related occupation) performing Db2 z/OS Database Administration using CA tools or replication methods (CDC/Qrep).
