Job Summary:

Full time position in Glen Allen, VA. Design, development, and ongoing maintenance of high quality data warehouse software solutions according to established timelines that implement business and technical requirements as defined by the business need.

Follow direction as set by the Development Lead when developing ETL solutions. Work with all functional areas of the Data Warehouse team in designing, testing and implementing ETL solutions. Analysis, design, development, testing and maintenance of ETL solutions.

Unit testing and data quality efforts within assigned data domain. Adhere to established development standards as defined by the ETL management team, including coding standards, version control practices, code reviews, and the creation and versioning of ETL documentation artifacts. Participate in Production On-call rotation in support of Data Warehouse batch load activities.

Produce key project deliverables within established delivery dates as established by the Project Management team. Function cooperatively within a team framework in for both project development and ongoing production support.

Min. Required: Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in computer science, information technology, or closely related
5 years experience in software development, data management, and data movement. 5 years progressive experience in either information technology or the insurance industry. 5 years experience with conforming and integration from multiple sources into a single unified data store. 5 years experience in developing ETL solutions utilizing Informatica. 5 years experience with SDLC methodologies. 5 years experience working with Oracle12c, SQL Server database systems, and SQLServer stored procedures. Pre-hire criminal and educational background check required.

Design, development, testing and maintenance of enterprise data warehouse and enterprise integration services. Accountable for the full cycle of consulting, design, coding, testing and documentation of the company's data warehouse. Work closely with data analysts, data scientists, and other data consumers within the business in an attempt to gather and populate data warehouse table structure, which is optimized for reporting. Responsible for the development of integrity, security, and processing of business data and files. Design and supports the database and table schemas for new and existent data sources for the data warehouse. Design and development of Data Marts. Partners with Data modeler and Data architect in an attempt to refine the business's data requirements. Work closely with data analysts, data scientists, and other data consumers within the business in an attempt to gather and populate data warehouse table structure, which is optimized for reporting. Develop/create and support the ETL in order to facilitate the accommodation of data into the warehouse using SSIS/Datastage and other technologies. Develop a new data engineering process that leverage a new cloud architecture and will extend or migrate our existing data pipelines to this architecture as needed. Works with Senior Technical Analysts and Developers to translate requirements into technical specifications. Participates in modernizing the EDW/platform by utilizing data architecture best practices. Collaborates with the EA team to build solutions that support VDOT's reporting, analytics, data exploration and data science needs. Leads process improvement initiatives and sets best practice standards for development. This position is eligible for telework opportunities; availability, hours, and duration are at the sole discretion of the Department Manager in accordance with VDOT's Teleworking policy. Highly proficient in the use of MS Team Foundation Server. extensively familiar with ETL (Extraction, Transformation & Load), data warehousing, and business intelligence tools such as business objects, PowerBI and Tableau. Advanced knowledge of database design and modeling in the context of data warehousing. Understanding of Agile methodologies and processes. Skilled in diagnosing complex data warehouse ETL processes, business logic failures, and data flows, in order to quickly resolve issues. IBM Datastage, Erwin, SQL Server (SSIS, SSRS, SSAS), ORACLE, T-SQL, Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Datawarehouse. Operating System Environments (Windows, Unix, etc.). Extensive knowledge of data analytics technologies as well as analytical and dimensional modeling. Must have knowledge of Excel, MS Project, MS Visio, and MS Team Foundation Server, which will all be necessary in the creation of visually and verbally engaging ETL, data designs and tables as well as the communication of documentation and reporting. College degree with major coursework in computer science, engineering, business administration or a related field; equivalent experience or training may substitute for degree.
