The Opportunity

The Senior Data Strategist is a dynamic role with endless opportunities to impact our clients' products through data-driven decisions. You'll collaborate with clients to identify their high-level business goals and develop a robust analytics plan to track and measure progress. You'll aggregate and surface product insights, such as user behaviors, to guide multidisciplinary teams throughout the product development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • You'll lead outcomes workshops with clients to understand their business goals and translate them into trackable outcomes within products

  • You'll audit, select, and recommend the best analytics tool to suit our clients' needs (e.g. Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude)

  • You'll dive into technical documentation and collaborate closely with engineers to integrate analytics into the codebase

  • You'll use storytelling to present complex data in ways that are meaningful and actionable for our clients and teams

  • You'll construct user-friendly dashboards that illustrate the value of data

Qualifications

  • You have 3+ years of experience developing and executing an analytics strategy for clients and/or products

  • You've created analytics tracking specifications for web and/or mobile products that are being used in production

  • You've worked with clients' business or marketing teams in an agency or have worked with stakeholders in a product setting using data and reporting to guide product decisions and roadmaps

  • You have strong business sensibilities and can effectively identify and translate high-level business objectives to reportable metrics

  • You can effectively communicate and present complex data in meaningful and actionable ways to clients and multidisciplinary product teams (e.g. engineers and designers) to guide product-decisions

  • You've evaluated a breadth of tools and platforms Amplitude, Mixpanel, Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, etc and can guide clients in selecting the ideal tool for their needs

  • You're a data advocate and can both articulate and demonstrate the value of data to clients and project teams

Bonus Points

  • You've worked with marketing teams to implement growth-specific tools or platforms like Segment, Braze, or Branch

  • You have in-depth experience with mobile analytics

  • You've helped a client migrate from one analytics tool to another

  • You've worked with eCommerce

The Senior Data Analyst is a core member of the Sustainability team, which seeks to engage our communities, steward resources, and discover ways to improve Grounds and beyond for generations to come. Under the supervision of the Sustainability Director, the Senior Data Analyst - Sustainability is responsible for analyzing energy, emissions, water, materials, and other sustainability-related metrics to draw conclusions and create sophisticated analysis and reports from complex data sets, both to evaluate progress towards goals, as well as to develop projections to determine the most effective strategies for UVA to meet sustainability goals. The Senior Data Analyst, Sustainability will be expected to become one of the University's subject matter experts for on-Grounds sustainability-related metrics and data to evaluate progress towards pan-university goals, in topics such as energy, greenhouse gas emissions, nitrogen, water, waste, food, and engagement. This work will be accomplished through strong partnerships with schools and departments across UVA. The incumbent utilizes software programs, statistical analysis, and advanced analytics to organize, calculate, maintain, visualize, and meaningfully analyze utility data and other metrics to support the development, expansion, maintenance, and creation of University-wide sustainability services and programs - both technical as well as outreach and engagement programs. The Senior Data Analyst, Sustainability will be required at times to enter mechanical rooms, energy plants, and steam tunnels. Duties Include: * Manage the analysis of information and identify, interpret, and report the trends or patterns found in data sets. Deliver recommendations based on findings. * Interpret and clearly communicate via written reports, presentations, and graphics sophisticated data sets on sustainability initiatives to assist in quantifying and qualifying progress towards meeting sustainability goals - such as maintaining and analyzing U.Va.'s greenhouse gas inventory, nitrogen footprint, energy, buildings, waste, water, engagement, and food. * Proactively identify appropriate new metrics and measurements to track and analyze, as well as new tools and processes to streamline data collection. * Present data in a way that can be easily and quickly grasped by stakeholders. * Ensure that policies governing data management are met, including security and privacy. * Consult with clients over questions of best practices in data analysis. * In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned. Required Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, architecture, sustainability design or related technical field. Experience: A minimum of three years of professional experience, with experience investigating, analyzing, and communicating energy and/or engineering-related data. Preferred Qualifications: Experience: Experience maintaining and reporting on a greenhouse gas inventory. Familiarity with, or working knowledge of, building energy systems, utility metering metrics, building commissioning processes, measurement and verification processes. License: Certified Energy Manager. Nationally recognized certifications related to quantifying or verifying greenhouse gas emissions. Position Compensation Range: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 Annual The selected candidate will be required to complete all necessary background checks prior to start of the position.
