As a Senior Data Scientist, you will help to build and improve risk segmentation models that serve multiple use cases from pricing to triage in Commercial Insurance. You shall be working with our business partners and other data science teams to support and influence further adoption of our models in generating business value. You will be joining a team focused on developing analytics and predictive modeling solutions and partner with our data engineers to improve some of our automated modeling assets and solutions. Additionally, you will be working with our ML Ops initiatives to help troubleshoot models in production as well as follow best practices in coding that enable delivering data science solutions as a service.

Responsibilities:

  • Subject matter expertise in building predictive models utilizing Python.

  • Experience with big data technologies (i.e. Hadoop, Spark, Hive, etc.)

  • Experience with database RDBMS technologies (i.e. Oracle, SQL Server, Teradata, etc.)

  • Problem solving: Ability to translate complex technical topics into business solutions and recommended strategies

  • Verbal/written communication skills, with particular emphasis on communicating to non-technical audiences.

  • Stakeholder management: ability to understand the customer's needs and negotiate scope of projects

  • Passion for learning new skills and the ability to adjust priorities on multiple projects based on changing demands/needs

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in data science and building segmentation models

  • Experience in pricing /risk segmentation models in commercial insurance (i.e. Worker's Compensation, General Liability, Property, Auto, etc.) is strongly preferred.

  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Quantitative Economics, or similar analytical field or progress towards or attainment of a relevant professional designation (i.e. ACAS/FCAS, CSPA, etc). Master's or Ph.D. is preferred.

  • Experience with AWS is desirable, especially Sagemaker

Act as a mentor to more junior data scientists and is empowered to assign them specific project tasks with clear scope.
