Atlassian is looking for a Senior Data Scientist to join our new Data Science team based in Mountain View CA. In a data-driven place like Atlassian experiencing rapid growth, business opportunities from the application of data science abounds. These include:

have a proven record of developing algorithms and models to optimize and scale business applications, have expertise in data analytics and excel at communicating highly technical topics to non-technical partners. You are passionate about data science and its applications to create business value. You want to make an impact to the way millions of users use our products in their day-to-day work.

On the first day, we'll expect you to have

  • MS or PhD in a quantitative topic (statistics, physics, engineering, math or computer science)

  • 5+ years of related industry experience in the data science domain

  • Expertise in SQL and comfortable in an additional data programming language (such as Python or R)

  • Experience building and scaling machine learning models in business applications

  • Technical expertise building data tools using large amount of data

  • Focus on business practicality and 80/20 very high bar for output quality, but recognizes the business benefit of 'having something now' vs 'perfection sometime in the future'

  • Agile development mindset, appreciating the benefit of constant iteration and improvement

  • Ability to communicate and representing data science concepts to diverse audiences

  • Strong sense of accountability and self-drive and the ability to function independently.

It's great, but not required, if you have

  • Experience leading and mentoring data science talent

  • Experience working in an enterprise or B2B space, as well as the consumer or B2C space

  • Experience working with go-to-market (GTM) and Growth teams (in addition to Product and Engineering)

  • Track record of presenting at meet-ups and conferences.

This new team is being built within the broader Analytics group and tasked to pursue business opportunities that can generate revenue or MAU improvements. The team is expected to work cross-functionally, using insights generated by marketing and product analytics that can be scaled or automated to generate business value. The team will be highly nimble, with a focus on velocity between ideation and initial output, and laser-focus on business impact.

The main focus of the Data Science Innovation Team (DSIT) is to make Omnicell's vision of an autonomous pharmacy a reality. As a member of the DSIT, you will have autonomy to collaborate with every team in the organization, and you will be able to directly connect to decision makers without dealing with bureaucracy. You will lead and participate in multiple projects on various timelines. You will be expected to develop strong working relationships with various departments, to represent the DSIT, to provide direction for members of all levels and departments, and to speak about new and upcoming developments in your field.
