What we're looking for
Due to the continued growth of the business and the importance of the data we use on a daily basis, we are currently looking for a for a data engineer to join our global Data team in Houston.
You will work closely with internal clients of the data team to support and maintain R, Excel and database-based processes for gathering data, calculating prices and producing the reports and data feeds. The work also involves writing robust automated processes in R.
What will you be doing?
Support and develop data processing systems using R and SQL
Client support with queries relating to
integration of Argus data and metadata into client systems
data validation
provision of data
Data and systems support to Argus' staff
Develop and maintain existing systems
metadata modification
data cleansing
data checking
Lead and manage projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery
Effectively communicate project progress and outcomes to stakeholders
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and successful project execution
Set and manage expectations with stakeholders, ensuring clarity and transparency throughout the project lifecycle
What we're looking for in you?
Significant recent experience of developing tools using R, R Shiny in a commercial (work) environment.
Good knowledge and experience of SQL, preferably in Oracle, including stored procedures, functions and triggers
Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and Unit Testing in R is required.
Ability to work both as part of a team and autonomously
Strong leadership and organizational skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely
Proven ability to manage stakeholder expectations and deliver high-quality results
Strong project management skills with a track record of successful project delivery
Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
3+ years of experience in the relevant field
Desired Skills and Experience
BS degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Business, Engineering or related field
Experience in visualisation techniques is desirable.
Any experience working with energy markets and commodities data is highly desirable
Experience developing production-grade scalable applications in R
