Senior Data Engineer

How will this role will Serve, Own and Grow at Rev:

As a Senior Data Engineer at Rev you'll play a pivotal role in building and maintaining sophisticated data pipelines, ensuring data integrity, and optimizing our data platform's performance. You'll collaborate with stakeholders across Marketing, Product, Sales, and Finance to align our data architecture with business objectives, leveraging our tech stack that includes Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL), Snowflake, DBT, Airbyte, Airflow, Matillion, Looker, and more.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement data pipelines focusing on optimization and integrity using DBT, Airflow, and Snowflake

• Develop processes for data transformation, management, and workload management

• Ensure data architecture supports business goals in collaboration with stakeholders across Marketing, Product, Sales, and Finance

• Monitor and enhance data platform performance, reliability, and security

• Stay updated with emerging technologies and best practices in data engineering

• Independently design and ship high-quality code

Requirements

Technical

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field

• Proven experience (5+ years) as a Data Engineer, Data Platform Engineer, Data Analyst, or other related and/or relevant role

• Hands-on, from-scratch experience working with SQL and Python

• Hands-on experience with ETL and ELT architectures (Experience with Airflow, Airbyte, and Matillion strongly preferred)

• Deep understanding of DBT for data transformation

• Experience with dimensional data modeling (Kimball, Inmon, Datavault, etc.)

• Hands-on experience working with Snowflake or similar tools (BigQuery, Redshift, etc.)

• Experience with AWS infrastructure

• Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Spinnaker, etc.)

• Experience using Git for source code and version control management (Github preferred)

• Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and prioritization skills

• Strong communication, teamwork, and a passion for continuous learning

• Critical thinking with a willingness to question data validity and assumptions

• Agile methodologies experience like scrum

Extra Awesome

• Knowledge of data architecture, security, and database management is a plus

• Experience working with data quality frameworks (e.g., Great Expectations)

• Deep knowledge of and experience working with Business Intelligence tools like Looker, Tableau, PowerBI, etc.

• Basic knowledge of Linux command line

• Experience working in a start-up environment
