Senior Data Engineer

What You'll Do:

Collaborate with and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions in full-stack development tools and technologies

Work with a team of developers with deep experience in machine learning, distributed microservices, and full stack systems

Utilize programming languages like Java, Scala, Python and Open Source RDBMS and NoSQL databases and Cloud based data warehousing services such as Redshift and Snowflake

Share your passion for staying on top of tech trends, experimenting with and learning new technologies, participating in internal and external technology communities, and mentoring other members of the engineering community

Collaborate with digital product managers, and deliver robust cloud-based solutions that drive powerful experiences to help millions of Americans achieve financial empowerment

Perform unit tests and conduct reviews with other team members to make sure your code is rigorously designed, elegantly coded, and effectively tuned for performance

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree

At least 4 years of experience in application development

At least 1 year of experience in big data technologies

Preferred Qualifications:

5+ years of experience in application development including Python, SQL, Scala, or Java

2+ years of experience with a public cloud (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)

3+ years experience with Distributed data or computing tools (MapReduce, Hadoop, Hive, EMR, Kafka, Spark, Gurobi, or MySQL)

2+ year experience working on real-time data and streaming applications

2+ years of experience with NoSQL implementation (Mongo, Cassandra)

2+ years of data warehousing experience (Redshift or Snowflake)

3+ years of experience with UNIX Linux including basic commands and shell scripting

2+ years of experience with Agile engineering practices

General Overview Under the supervision of the Manager of Lean Strategy & Innovation and within the Kaizen Promotion Office, the Senior Improvement Specialist will function as a lead facilitator, educator and coach for the implementation of lean improvement across North Shore Physicians Group. Work in partnership with providers, staff, managers, and senior leadership to develop improvement strategies and ensure adherence to the principles of Lean thinking, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and selected value streams work for the organization. Train and coach team members within the organization in Lean principles and methods. Serve as a lead organizational resource for improvement training and facilitation. May be asked to present, educate, and facilitate at all levels in the organization. Provide support to local teams through observation, data analysis, development of tests of change, implementation of standard work, and the evaluation of impact. Lead Rapid Process Improvement Workshops (RPIWs) and Kaizen Events. This role functions as a champion for organizational change and alignment with lean methodology. Responsibilities * Demonstrate leadership within the Kaizen Promotion Office (KPO) by: * Participating in planning for Lean implementation, ensuring alignment with strategic goals. * Mentoring and precepting new staff within the KPO * Maintaining Advanced Lean Certification and RPIW Leadership Certification * Facilitate Value Stream Improvement by: * Conducting baseline assessments (including target sheets, 5S achievement, education and training needs, post event tracking and implementation, and the development and rollout of Standard Work). * Leading and coaching improvement events such as RPIWs and Kaizen Events. * Supporting local leadership and Process Owners with implementation of improvement efforts * Ensuring adherence to the established standards for RPIW activities, to include but not limited to newspaper and target sheet review, auditing RPIWs completed by Certified Leaders outside of the KPO, monitoring 5S. * Serves as a lead Lean consultant for the organization. * Educate and train by: * Planning and executing Lean/improvement training programs * Developing new curriculum and modifying existing modules based on best practice, technological advances, and variation in audience needs. * Independently teaching all content modules to levels ranging from novice to experienced * Using knowledge in performance improvement, team facilitation, data analysis and process change to assist teams and work groups in achieving their stated goals * Coaching operational leaders to utilize the skills of Daily Lean Management to harness the creativity of staff members, perform direct observation, and use visual controls to manage and improve their practice * Facilitate and assist teams with daily management by: * Collaborating with team members on root cause analysis and tests of change * Identifying and engaging stakeholders in improvement activities and process change design * Independently facilitating teams including meeting management, facilitation, conflict resolution, 1:1's with clinical and administrative leaders * Challenging teams and leadership to think in new and innovative ways * Demonstrate maturity and professionalism by: * Working independently with minimal supervision * Managing priorities in order to meet deadlines * Sharing coverage as needed within the KPO Requirements * Licensure: Lean Certification (e.g. Six Sigma, Virginia Mason Institute, etc) * Education: Bachelor's Degree * Experience: 3 years of Lean Management or 5 years of progressive health care experience Partners Healthcare System Peabody MA
