  • Racks and stacks customer equipment

  • Reads installation plans (Visio Drawings / Spreadsheets) and implements installation accordingly

  • Installs circuits requiring advanced fiber terminations

  • You prioritize work from the Oracle queue and ensures alignment to all commit times

  • Troubleshoots switched / multiplexed / media converted circuits; raises to, and works with networking group, as needed.

  • Works with customers to solve issues

  • Installs/tests/modifies cross connects per SOPs and ensures proper cable management of: coax, fiber, twisted pair copper, and intra-building cross connects

  • Installs and tests advanced cross connects circuits (switched, multiplexed, etc.)

  • Maintains detailed written records of all work activity

  • Designs and leads cage / infrastructure modification projects

  • Finishes the assigned training in a timely manner

  • Supports customer happiness through timely and precise order execution


  • 1+ years experience

  • High School Diploma

  • BERT and SONET test equipment

  • Able to perform all essential job functions, including walking, standing, bending, stooping, climbing, lifting and manual dexterity, with or without reasonable accommodation

  • Able to lift heavy equipment/items up to 50 pounds

  • Able to work days/nights/weekends/holidays, if needed and/or required

AWS Outposts brings native AWS services, infrastructure, and operating models to virtually any data center, co-location space, or on-premises facility. Customers can now use the same AWS APIs, tools, and infrastructure across their on-premises and the AWS cloud to deliver a truly consistent hybrid experience. The provided AWS Outposts infrastructure is fully managed, maintained, and supported by AWS directly to deliver access to the latest AWS capabilities for our customers. There is flexibility with the work location of this position. Primary (but not limited to) locations include Dallas, Denver, Atlanta and Boston. We are looking for a Field Data Center Technician who is highly autonomous and possesses a "can do" attitude. In this client-facing role, you will travel to client locations and/or between AWS sites, both locally and internationally, to install, service, and retrieve AWS equipment. You will be expected to manage your time onsite and coordinate materials and labor to ensure high standards and best-in-class client servicing expectations are met in the most efficient way possible. As a Field Data Center Technician, you will deploy and maintain AWS cloud computing infrastructure across a number of locations, including onsite client premises and/or customer data centers. Your activities will include (but are not limited to): * Conducting site assessments at client facilities to proactively prepare for the onsite installation of AWS equipment * Installing/expanding AWS infrastructure at the client premises, customer data center, and/or co-located data center environment * Troubleshooting network installations & configurations, to include basic break/fix and/or decommissioning, as appropriate * Thinking proactively while working to prevent support issues and/or troubleshoot problems before they are realized by the customer * Participating in efforts to improve operational efficiencies through the identification and development of SOPs, SLAs, and tools * Partnering with and/or supporting third-party contractors to enable a seamless client experience while meeting established SLAs * May participate in efforts to train and/or mentor new employees, ensuring a consistent focus on best-in-class client servicing * May be required to work outside of standard working hours, to include nights and/or weekends (on-call rotations and/or on demand escalations) in support of client scheduling and/or time-sensitive escalations Physical Requirements: * Physical ability to push and/or pull heavy objects into position (regularly lift up to 49 lbs and participate in team lifts of 50+ lbs) * Ability to on occasion work in cramped spaces, elevated locations and/or at heights and from ladders, as required Travel Requirement: * Frequent travel (50%+ to both domestic and international client locations) required Amazon.Com, Inc.
