GDIT has an opening for an Information Engineer with strong data modeling, SQL, and SQL Server experience to be part of the development team to support the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) Office of Cyber Infrastructure and Computational Biology (OCICB) Cyber Technology Staff Augmentation Program (CTSAP). CSRA is supporting over 80 custom and COTS applications, both web based and client server applications, for a variety of business needs

Detailed responsibilities include:

  • Acquire detailed knowledge and understanding of software applications and associated business processes and rules.

  • Analyze data requirements and business process to generate relational databases, creating conceptual, logical, and physical data models for custom development projects.

  • Use data naming conventions and standards to promote standardization and reuse across data models. Troubleshoot and correct stored procedure and indexing issues; write TSQL stored procedures.

  • Work closely with DBA teams to ensure all data extracts and downloads meet required business needs

  • Develop, implement, and administer ETL processes; assist with development, scheduling, changes and create ETL jobs.

  • Assist in developing a common data architecture and controlling appropriate access to sensitive customer data.

  • Identify, use, and monitor adherence to data and architectural standards and principles for software applications to promote standardization, reuse, and to minimize compatibility issues across client application portfolio.

Required Qualifications and

Skills:
  • BS or equivalent + 6 yrs related experience, or MS + 4 yrs related experience

  • Minimum of six years experience in data analysis

  • Five years experience developing SQL queries and SQL Stored Procedures from scratch with strong emphasis on Reporting and Aggregating

  • Current hands on MS SQL Server experience, including TSQL stored procedure development; similar hands on Oracle experience may substitute for MS SQL Server experience.

  • Able to read SSIS packages and stored procedures that perform ETL to extract and document the source to target mappings and transformations carried out by the code.

  • Experience working with large amounts of complex data in order to identify issues, patterns, trends, irregularities, etc.

  • Experience with activities related to development, implementation, and administration of ETL processes

  • Experience with logical and physical database design and development, data conversion, normalization, data modeling with ER Studio Data Architect or like products, such as Erwin, SQL Server Enterprise Manager; data consolidation, and associated documentation including diagrams, data dictionary, source to target mappings

  • Familiarity with SQL Server and SQL Enterprise Manager

  • Excellent communication skills needed to interact with developers and project manager.

Summary:

  • Position will be based in our client's office on Fishers Lane in Rockville, MD.

  • Ability to obtain a simple government background clearance (Public Trust)

The Data Management Analyst for Items is responsible for completing accurate distributor item, IPP item, and market basket item matching functions to include the achievement of periodic matching goals. The Analyst ensures detailed product information accuracy, categorization, and data integrity are maintained.
