The School of Medicine has an outstanding opportunity for a Senior Data Analyst.

The Senior Data Analyst will drive value by defining and optimizing data collection strategies and structure for our consumer websites and marketing campaigns utilizing Google suite of analytics tools and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools. This position develops tools to derive information critical for leadership decision making in the dynamic health care market.

This position works closely with front end engineers to ensure tracking methodologies and structures are implemented in a repeatable and optimized workflow. The ideal candidate loves to dig into data and is an analytics expert who is adept at translating data into insights and uncovering and communicating key takeaways in an understandable way.

This position requires a high attention to detail and with a results oriented approach. This role requires understanding best practices in developing analytics strategies and reports that support the needs of website performance and marketing communications reporting. The role requires balancing the need for change with making change happen in a positive manner.

This position is critical for UW Medicine. We have moved to become much more data focused in our work, developing and reviewing key performance analytics that measure effectiveness and return on investment in our digital campaigns and products.

This position requires working closely with product management and business stakeholders primarily in the Strategic Marketing and Communications team to realize tracking and reporting needs. Deep knowledge of Google's Analytics, Tag Manager, and Datastudio reporting tools is needed to generate one-time reports as well as dashboards for stakeholders to independently track Key Performance Indicators (KPI's).

Analytics oversight:

Define reporting tag structure and requirements that enable complex reporting of website KPIs focused on acquisition, engagement and conversion.

Work closely with web team to provide implementation requirements for Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, and Google Datastudio.

Present analysis and insights in a clear and concise manner to team members and other stakeholders.

Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to define reporting requirements for the UW Medicine website.

Work collaboratively with marketing strategy team, other SMC colleagues and our marketing and media buying agencies, to help build, analyze and develop dashboards around KPI's and related metrics for service line marketing, brand and related campaigns.

Support marketing strategy team's primary KPI, which is to drive patient acquisition and retention, through thoughtful reporting using one-time reports as well as customized dashboards for reoccurring reporting needs that integrate data from both Google Analytics and our CRM tool.

Watch KPI performance daily to identify trends and potential issues.

Work closely with web development to ensure new feature releases are tracked and reportable.

Establish a process and reporting method for A/B testing of configurations to determine configuration and feature impact.

Understanding business questions that drive reports:

Listen to business questions and reporting requirements to create one-time reports and dashboards that provide data driven answer that aid in business decisions.

Presentation of findings and reports:

Work closely with product management and stakeholders to present data driven findings and trends.


Bachelor's degree. At least 5 years of experience running operations and analytics functions within a marketing and communications environment or creative agency.


Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills.

A love of working with data and generating performance reports for key stakeholders and leadership.

Strong analytical skills and ability to identify trends and make data-driven decisions, including monitoring, analyzing and reporting on campaign and website performance.

Ability to create, implement and maintain dashboards of key success metrics.

Ability to drive and manage change, forge strong relationships and problem solve.

Comfortable challenging convention, but flexible enough to adjust when necessary.

Experience with Google suite of analytics tools and CRM tools.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except where there are legal requirements such as license/certification/registration.
