The Senior Data Analyst will provide, in a timely manner, data files and reports to meet the ongoing management, program planning, and communication needs of the Development and Alumni Relations teams as well as other campus partners who have a desire to engage with alumni, donors, and other data managed by University Advancement.

The selected candidate will design, develop, maintain, and enhance systems to improve operations to meet the current and future needs of the division. Such support will be in the form of fully automated solutions, ad hoc reporting, and database integrations. They will develop procedures and solutions to ensure the quality of the data in these information systems; partner with senior management to determine organizational information and reporting needs; generate and/or maintain reports or data dashboards illustrating overall as well as unit specific results; and develop and produce performance reports for constituent engagement and fundraising operations.

This position will also study data and employ data mining, predictive modeling, forecasting, and/or statistical analysis techniques to provide information, knowledge, and tools that support the university in achieving its private fundraising goals, as well as provide assessments of program effectiveness. Conducts regular review and analysis of existing reports and tools. The Senior Data Analyst will serve as technical liaison to the University System of Maryland Advancement Services team relative to the implementation and maintenance of the alumni and donor management solution, which is currently Ellucian Advance Web in addition to serving as technical representative on behalf of University Advancement in discussions with vendors, TU Office of Technology Services, and other departments on issues relating to business needs.

Bachelor's degree with four years of database management, project management, programming and data analysis experience, preferably in a fundraising environment; knowledge of computer programming, system analysis and design, data exchange methodologies; ability to communicate effectively and collaboratively in writing and speaking, with technical and non-technical staff; experience in reporting and analytics, and ability to analyze, forecast, and present data in a meaningful way for operational and business planning; familiarity with complex relational databases and ability to design reports from databases; strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to manage complex information, assess problems, and develop effective solutions; demonstrated experience and ability to produce high-quality reports and documentation; and strong management skills and the ability to manage, motivate, and evaluate staff.

The selected candidate must be adept at managing time and organizing competing priorities with the ability to maintain accuracy and focus with attention to detail in fast-paced environment with constantly changing priorities; be able to learn quickly, prioritize workload, meet deadlines, and perform well with minimal direct supervision; possess high degree of professionalism, ethical sensitivity, and discretion, and have the ability to maintain a commitment to confidentiality. Advanced knowledge of Oracle SQL, PL-SQL, Crystal Reports, HTML, ASP, and .Net are required.

Preferred

  • Experience working with major fundraising products/platforms such as Ellucian Advance, Raisers Edge,Salesforce, or similar constituent database.

  • An understanding of the advancement process and fundraising terminology.

  • Data transformation (ETL) experience.

  • Knowledge of Data Warehouse Concepts.

Department Profile Global Financial Crimes (GFC) coordinates day-to-day implementation of the Firm's enterprise-wide financial crime prevention efforts. GFC includes several legal and compliance disciplines and has responsibility for governance, oversight and execution of the Firm's Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Economic Sanctions, Anti-Corruption and Government and Political Activities Compliance programs. GFC also develops and/or assists in the development of appropriate policies and procedures, including those designed to assist the business units to know their clients and conduct appropriate due diligence and to prevent, detect and report potentially suspicious activity. GFC has dedicated coverage managers and teams of analysts who advise and counsel each business unit regarding its AML, economic sanctions, anti-tax evasion and anti-corruption obligations and its particular clients and transactions. Background on the Team The GFC Core Functions Group coordinates and supports critical aspects of Morgan Stanley's Global Financial Crimes Program while promoting consistency across business lines and regions in the day-to-day implementation of the GFC strategy. The team's primary responsibilities include the continuing enhancement of the GFC Program through the drafting and implementation of GFC policies and procedures; execution and analysis of AML, economic sanctions, anti-tax evasion and anti-corruption risk assessments; oversight of and advisory support regarding the Firm's Know Your Customer efforts; testing and quality assurance reviews; and central oversight of GFC's monitoring controls. Reporting Lines This role reports to the Risk Assessment Coordinator.
