Groupon's mission is to become the daily habit in local commerce and fulfill our purpose of building strong communities through thriving small businesses. We connect people to a vibrant, global marketplace for local services and experiences. In the process, we're positively impacting the lives of millions of customers and merchants globally. Even with thousands of employees spread across multiple continents, we still maintain a culture that inspires innovation, rewards risk-taking and celebrates success. If you want to take more ownership of your career, then you're ready to be part of Groupon.

The Senior Data Analyst is a key member of Groupon Goods Data, Analytics & Strategy team. The person who fills this role will be a crucial part of high-level strategic decisions and own the team's data analytics stack.

The role requires the ability to pivot quickly between a constantly changing canvas of analytic tools, pipelines, and reporting, as well as an ability to engage in robust "big picture" conversations with the Goods leadership team. This role will require vigilant prioritization and collaboration across various teams to drive optimization and improve profitability.

Senior Goods and company management will rely on this role to be the data and analytics expert on all things Goods merchandising, marketing and assortment planning. This person will have to be comfortable with the details, while able to summarize the salient points across a wide range of topics.

We're a "best of both worlds" kind of company. We're big enough to have resources and scale, but small enough that a single person has a surprising amount of autonomy and can make a meaningful impact. We're curious, fun, a little intense, and kind of obsessed with helping local businesses thrive. Does that sound like a great way to grow your career? Let's get into the details:

Responsibilities:

  • Build and own end to end data solutions using Groupon's latest technologies to help answer key business questions and drive improved results.

  • Partner with Groupon's key data and engineering teams (producers and consumers) to establish and leverage a deep understanding of critical production level data, as well as raw data pipelines, to further enhance analytical processes.

  • Analyze key performance metrics across all channels of distribution and traffic sources for Groupon, including category and SKU level portfolio optimization.

  • Analyze raw and aggregate internal data to help evaluate key drivers including supply health, customer purchase patterns, seasonality, traffic channel level productivity (paid marketing, email, push, etc), as well as other key business objectives.

  • Partner with key business stakeholders to define near, mid and long-term implications of key analyses, including Central RM, Central Merchandising, Relevance, Finance, Legal and others.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in statistics, mathematics, economics or equivalent required; graduate/advanced degree preferred (MS/MBA)

  • 5+ years of relevant business experience, preferably in an analytically rigorous role

  • Ability to manipulate data and derive insights from complex datasets

  • Expert knowledge of SQL or other database language and Tableau a plus

  • Experience with scripting languages and/or statistical software (R/Python/SAS) is a big plus

  • Demonstrated ability to lead data driven operational process change

  • Familiarity with data infrastructure and cloud architecture a plus

  • Strategic program development and big picture thinking in consumer e-commerce data/analytic initiatives

  • Familiarity with key business metrics - solid analytical expertise, familiarity with multivariate testing frameworks a plus

  • Highly flexible, ability to handle changing directions/priorities and roles as business needs evolve

  • Proven problem solving skills; systematic, analytical thinker

  • Ability to travel up to 10%
