The Clinical Operations and Business Analytics team at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is seeking a Senior Data Analyst. Through strategic partnerships with various data owners across the institute, the Senior Data Analyst will become an expert in the data systems and structures available across Dana-Farber and its partners. The Senior Data Analyst will translate business specifications into insightful data models that influence strategic decision making.
The Clinical Operations and Business Analytics team is part of the strategic initiative at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute to enable the transformation of data into insights and actionable information to the different operational, clinical, and business departments across the institute. The team has access to an extraordinary range of healthcare data including medical and pharmacy claims, enrollment, EMR (Epic), scheduling, billing, referral, and laboratory results. Using this data, the team supports reporting and analytics in areas such as patient care, quality and outcomes, operations, and healthcare administration.
The Senior Data Analyst will engage and educate the analytic community on how to leverage the variety of data sources to drive adoption of "sources of truth" within the institute. The Senior Data Analyst will be a thought-partner who can use their knowledge of Dana-Farber data systems to design creative, long term solutions to new operational, clinical, and business questions. The Senior Data Analyst will be expected to function independently within a fast-paced environment, work on several different projects concurrently, and serve as an advisor to both Clinical Operations & Business Analytics teammates and external partners.
The Senior Data Analyst will work with a variety of tools (e.g. SQL, Excel, Oracle, Tableau, etc.) to dive into the data, write queries, run reports, and manipulate and analyze large datasets to meet the needs of institute. Own the technical components and conversations of analytics projects from inception to completion using the Clinical Operations & Business Analytics Operating model to provide support to various departments that range from clinical to operations.
Collaborate with team members, various Dana-Farber data owners, and data warehousing partners to prioritize and generate robust data sources to serve as institutional sources of truth on key business and patient care metrics.
Identify and integrate disparate data sources, both internal and external, including raw and unstructured data from technical and non-technical teams.
Serve as a technical expert for compiling, cleaning, manipulating, and analyzing data related to assigned projects.
Support the utilization of business intelligence tools (e.g. Tableau, Microstrategy) through the design and generation of data models serving as the foundation of interactive dashboards.
Build and foster an institute-wide analytic community of practice by training, educating and bringing together analysts, data stewards, business stewards and analytics consumers.
Perform other similar and related duties as required or directed.
Bachelor's degree in Statistics, IT, Mathematics, Public Health, or related domain. Advanced degree in relevant domain a plus
3+ years of data analysis experience within the healthcare, life sciences or academic industry required
Advanced proficiency in SQL, capable of querying and designing relational databases required
Expertise in manipulating data, extracting desired information, performing data analysis and troubleshooting data integrity issues.
Experience with business intelligence tools, such as Tableau, and an understanding of how data structures impact the design and development of BI tools.
Competent with additional Microsoft Office suite software (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio...).
Ability to communicate with internal partners to develop and translate business requirement into business logic and data models.
