Job Description:

Our client is a minority-owned SBA 8(a) specialized consulting firm, providing innovative Cybersecurity, Cloud Migration, and Information Technology Modernization solutions for the US Federal Government. Currently seeking qualified candidates to fill the Senior Cybersecurity Engineer position for the Department of Education (DoED)’s Cybersecurity and Privacy Support Services (CPSS) program at the Financial Student Aid (FSA) Office.

The Senior Cybersecurity Engineer is responsible for the deployment and configuration of tools that make up the enterprise security architecture. The enterprise security architecture serves to:

• Protect information and information systems from unauthorized system activity or behavior to provide confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
• Ensure compliance with privacy requirements and manage the privacy risks to individuals associated with the processing of PII.

  Reporting directly to Director of Security Engineering for Zen Strategics, the Senior Cybersecurity Engineer will perform the following tasks:

• Collaborate with the cybersecurity architect to follow the program’s roadmap for maintaining and developing the cybersecurity architecture.
• Implement solutions within the enterprise architecture which are mapped to cybersecurity and privacy requirements and corresponding system requirements including reference models, segment architectures, and solution architectures.
• Function as the technical lead for the lifecycle management of all cybersecurity tools to include development, change control, configuration management, and Tier III technical support.
• Advise authorizing officials, chief information officers, senior accountable officials for risk management or risk executive (function), senior agency information security officers, and senior agency officials for privacy on a range of security and privacy issues.
• Research and evaluate industry cybersecurity solutions and best practices and develop recommendations and white papers.
• The successful candidate will possess a strong attention to detail, analytic and communication skills and work well in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary environment.

Essential Experience and Skills:

• At least ten (10) years of experience in systems engineering, specifically in integrating cybersecurity operations architecture solutions;
• Expert knowledge of security information and event management (SIEM) capabilities
• Expert knowledge of Microsoft Defender (Endpoint Security and Management)
• General knowledge of a wide range of commercially available cybersecurity tools such as Splunk, Tanium, Tenable, etc.;
• Strong understanding of industry risk management and/or cybersecurity standards (e.g., FISMA, NIST SP 800-128 and SP 800-37, and DISA STIG)

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher Computer Science
• At least 10 years’ experience as senior subject matter expert developing, implementing, and maintaining cybersecurity solutions
• Microsoft Security Operations Analyst Associate Certification
