Senior Customer Service Representative State

Primary Job Duties: Performs difficult but routine clerical and typing tasks and serves the public in a courteous and effective manner.

Utilizes a computer to input, sort and retrieve a wide variety of information in both list and menu script form. This is important non-supervisory clerical work involving responsibility for the performance of a number of varied or unrelated clerical tasks which involve some exercise of independent judgment. Work of the employee is checked by immediate supervisors or by another step in the clerical process. Does related work as required.

SUBJECTS OF EXAMINATION: The written examination will cover knowledge's, skills and/or abilities in such areas as:

• NAME AND NUMBER CHECKING
• OPERATIONS WITH LETTERS AND NUMBERS;
• CUSTOMER SERVICE
• ARITHMETIC COMPUTATION WITH CALCULATOR;
• WORKING WITH OFFICE RECORDS;

Qualifications

Candidates must meet the following requirements on or before the date of the written examination: Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma issued by the State Education Department of New York; PLUS two (2) years of office experience which shall have included working on a computer and dealing with the public.

Special Requirements

Candidates must be at time of examination and for at least four months prior thereto residents of The City of New Rochelle.
