Job Description:

The City of Avondale has an opportunity for a Senior Customer Service Representative assigned to the City's Finance & Budget Department. This is a part-time (20-30 hours) non-exempt position without benefits.

Performs a variety of clerical, accounting, and customer service duties involving providing telephone coverage, researching and processing of utility services, posting to general ledger, service orders, revenue transactions, sales tax payments, business and city permits, daily deposits, and cashiering. Processes water services applications that have been filed with the office.

Performs billing of utility services, monitors accounts, and generates reports. Provides bilingual services as well as other assigned duties at the front counter, via email, and on phone system regarding utility accounts and billing questions. Work differs from Customer Service Representative in the complexity of assignments and the level of supervision.

Essential Functions

Provides customer service by processing payments, responding to inquiries and escalated customer calls, creating customer accounts, and ensuring customer receive timely assistance. Maintains department customer service standards.

Processes utility billing a timely manner including closing bills and calculating adjustments and credits as needed.

Processes residential/commercial/hydrant/water service applications, service termination requests, letter of credit requests, sewer fee appeals, account information requests, account updates, and permits.

Coordinates meter investigations, monitors meter read, sends emails for meter installs/pulls, and contacts technicians regarding investigations for meter status.

Submits service orders for service turn on/off and for customer concerns for high/low/zero usage and submit sanitation work orders. Sends out a.m./p.m. service orders to be completed by technicians. Inputs all reads from completed service orders.

Provides financial functions by balancing cash drawers, completing department deposits, posting to general ledger, posting and editing online/phone/bank payments, and entering end of day cashier report totals.

Performs a variety of clerical functions by filing, entering information into databases, generating and submitting reports, and sorting and distributing mail.

Job Requirements

High School diploma or equivalency. Two (2) years of experience in customer service, data entry and 10-key by touch, basic computer proficiency.

Municipal water billing experience is preferred
