This position is accountable for managing the entire Consumer Product Sales Meat Products portfolio at UNFI Central Region (formally Supervalu). This sales territory has direct accountability for over 8.2 MM LBS and $27.3 MM in Net Sales annually. UNFI Central Region is a large wholesale account headquartered out of Eden Prairie, MN and has a strong regional customer base servicing chain accounts such as Cub Foods, Coborn's, Miner's Superone, L&B, and the UNFI independent ad groups. This position also works closely with the Territory Manager currently assigned to this account, in order to drive maximum sales and profits for our MP portfolio by effectively implementing all company marketing and trade promotional strategies across these customers and UNFI's 3 distribution centers (Hopkins, Fargo, and Bismarck).
Develops and executes Meat Products sales and distribution plan at the UNFI Central Region wholesale/chain account level.
Works with UNFI Central Region wholesale/chain buyers and merchandisers to establish quarterly, 6 month and annual objectives that meet category volume and brand volume objectives while fully utilizing Hormel trade funds within budget.
Executes and communicates Meat Products distribution, shelving, merchandising, pricing (DSMP) objectives set by Corporate and Field Sales management team.
Utilizes Category Sales and Category Management teams to identify opportunities and execute sales tactics with budgeted trade funds.
Sets and allocates sales plan in collaboration with the Director, Customer Trade Marketing manager, and the Customer Region Manager.
Provides management with pertinent feedback regarding UNFI Central Region wholesale/chain accounts and competitive activity including competitive activity through SWOT analysis.
Penetrates mid-level management of UNFI Central Region wholesale/chain accounts in order to implement sales and marketing initiatives and maximize the customer's development. This includes buyer and senior buyer levels.
Holds responsibility for managing sales plans for UNFI Central Region wholesale/chain accounts.
Interprets information from Category Analyst and Customer Trade Marketing Manager and administration regarding category sales, brand sales, share growth, and promotional efficiency.
Continues to participate in learning and development workshops and activities in local, regional, and national meetings intended to improve selling techniques, knowledge of customer and company, and other business practices designed to enhance effectiveness in the marketplace.
Works with UNFI Central Region wholesale/chain accounts to ensure that our trade investment policies and procedures are followed.
A bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience
3+ years of sales/marketing/analytics experience
Demonstrated ability to understand and apply business analytics.
