The Senior Custodial Supervisor will assist the Associate Director in all aspects of managing up to 8 Custodial Supervisors and up to 150 custodians. Assisting the Associate Director includes daily supervision of 89 custodial staff in University and residential buildings with additional Supervisors and custodial staff during the summer, follow-through of campus buildings infrastructure needs, confirm compliance with daily building tasks, training, and discipline.
Provide supervisory and management oversight for all custodial supervisors as needed. This may include supervising up to 20 additional custodial staff for each Custodial Supervisor's building assignments for a time as well as lending ongoing guidance and leadership to assist in the development of a strong and consistent operation. Maintain ongoing communication and strong working relationships with building occupants, Physical Plant, ESSM, CPDC, Housing Office, Office of Residence Life, Conference Services and Events Scheduling necessary to ensure custodial services for all residential scheduled events and ongoing uses are properly planned for.
This position will initiate, evaluate and recommend the standardization of custodial equipment and supply purchases. Prioritize custodial needs by shift and building use, document work performance and compliance with standards to continually improve and conform to increased standard levels. Must be an effective leader able to communicate task expectations to staff, demonstrate time-management skills and ability to prioritize tasks in a logical manner.
Review and revise work methods and procedures to ensure efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with established regulations, policies, and standards. Must be available to respond to after-hours emergency calls in absence of available staff and work flexible hours to cover special events and emergencies as needed.
Collaborate with the Support Supervisors and Associate Director to estimate custodial labor, overhead and supplies costs for all requested billable services. Maintain records and prepare reports as requested. Continually provide effective oral and written communications.
Read, interpret and instruct custodial staff regarding rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Develop a training program and establish training standards and requirements for all new, temporary and existing custodial staff. Participate in planning and facilitating quarterly staff training and informational sessions.
