Position Description
The Town of Marana is seeking a Senior Crime Analystto work in the Police Department. This is a full-time position and an exciting opportunity for someone interested in gathering and processing information to identify patterns and trends for crime reduction and to enhance the quality of life to Marana citizens.

Expected Hiring Range:$26.74 - $32.76/hour
Salary Range:$26.74 - $38.78/hour
Examples of Duties
Conducts complex management/administrative analysis and maintains information resources for researching, conducting studies and analyzing data; identifies trends; prepares statistical data; network with outside law enforcement agencies, presents to internal and external groups.
Conducts highly specialized tactical and strategic research and analysis of confidential intelligence and information relating to internal and criminal investigations for immediate action on leads. Produces analytical products in the form of reports and/or visual aids in support of investigations. Prepares and disseminates intelligence, provides officer safety information, crime alerts, threat assessment, and next hit prediction on crime series. Testifies in court regarding work processes and products.
Reviews reports to identify existing and/or emerging trends and crime series. Presents and disseminates analysis and trends bi-monthly to the command staff for strategic planning to devise tactics, hot spot analysis for crime reduction and improved quality of life. Tactical measures are established for performance indicators for ongoing measures.
Provides training to Police personnel related to field.
Conducts presentations on crime statistics, crime trends, traffic safety and crime prevention to various local groups.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Social Science, Statistics, Geographic Information Science or equivalent.
Over three years' experience in compiling data, analyzing findings and writing reports or in a closely related field.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
Proficient in ArcGIS or similar software
Valid Arizona Driver License
An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience that provides the desired knowledge, skills & abilities to successfully perform essential functions may be considered.
Additional Requirements:
Must pass an extensive background investigation including fingerprinting and a polygraph.
Must obtain ACJIS (Arizona Criminal Justice Information System) Certification within 6 months of hire.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience working in the criminal justice field
Knowledge of FBI Offense Codes
Knowledge of Spillman, LexisNexis or similar systems
