Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Senior Credit Analyst to join the Corporate Treasury team at our beautiful Downtown HQ in Atlanta, GA.

The Role: You will manage a customer portfolio and understand the industry and market. You will partner with the business team and customers to ensure that we are taking an appropriate risk adjusted approach on behalf of Georgia-Pacific. You'll work collaboratively with internal and external business partners to determine the best course of action which may include credit assessment, risk mitigation strategies, negotiation, or a credit hold.

The Team: Our team is comprised of a diverse group of individuals that have a passion for financial analytics, evaluating and optimizing risk, building strong relationships, and lifelong learning. The Credit Analyst reports to the Credit Director. This role is based at our HQ in Downtown Atlanta, GA. This role will be a hybrid of weekly in office days and flexibility to work remotely; with the expectation of being in office more than not.

The ideal candidate will utilize critical thinking for problem solving, show initiative, and work with a sense of urgency while you prioritize multiple requests. A passion for gathering and using data to identify trends, optimize risk and "tell the story", will propel you in this role. What You will Do in Your Role

  • Utilize financial analytics, business/industry research, decision-making capabilities, local knowledge, and teamwork as part of a disciplined approach to establishing, reviewing, and maintaining customer credit lines

  • Analyze and interpret documents such as regulations, policies, financials statements and other vital documents, as well as interpret market signals

  • Partner with the business to understand the origination of new deals or change of current deals including economics, mechanics, and incentives for both GP and the customer

  • Provide support to the business and conduct credit analysis and profitable risk management

  • Manage portfolio credit risk for the business

  • Perform financial analysis on customers and establish credit lines in relation to a reward/risk framework

  • Develop strong working relationships with both internal and external customers

  • Perform periodic customer visits to assist in evaluating credit quality

  • Manage daily credit risk operations, including developing strategies for high-risk counterparties

  • Monitor credit exposure and work with customers and our commercial team to resolve limit breaches

  • Negotiate credit documents as warranted (guarantees, letters of credit, bonds, etc.)

  • Manage the extended collections process such as payment extensions and renegotiations

  • Advance the Principled Based Management (PBM) culture by applying and reinforcing the company's Guiding Principles

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Career experience focused on Accounting, Financial Analysis, or related Corporate Credit role

  • Systems and Tools savvy: You have experience with Microsoft Office Suite/Office 365; including MS Excel and a desire to learn new systems and tools

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Finance or Accounting

  • Experience at a large corporation in a Risk or Credit role

  • Demonstrated technical proficiency in spreadsheets/databases (e.g. Excel, Access, SQL, Tableau)
