Major Responsibilities:
Gather the information necessary (commercial credit reports, financial statements, etc.) to perform assessments of the credit worthiness of customers
Perform analysis to determine credit limits pursuant to company guidelines and risk of loss
Escalate credit, financial, and potential bankruptcy concerns pursuant to company guidelines
Administer customer data in company ERP system; including initial and post account set up (this includes credit limit, payment terms, bank account information, bill to addresses, etc.)
Mentor and assist in the training of members of the Credit Team
Prepare credit approval requests for executive level briefing and review
Administer the "Customer Credit Analysis" report (prompts the need for customer credit analysis when customer reaches 85% of its assigned credit limit)
Communicate to collections and sales teams, customers that may exceed their credit limit
Develop and maintain quality relationships with Sales, Account Managers, Collectors, and all Order-To-Cash team members
Evaluate requests for "credit releases" on accounts exceeding credit limits, "hot" orders, and "payment in advance" orders. Release such orders as authorized to do so pursuant to company guidelines
Initiate the customer on-boarding process after credit is approved
Respond to customer inquiries to establish and maintain positive communications and relationships with customers both internal and external
Perform special projects and other duties as may be assigned from time to time by management
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree preferred with an emphasis on Finance, Accounting or Business Administration
Minimum three to five years' experience in business to business credit analysis
Sound understanding of basic accounting principles
General familiarity with, and understanding of, financial statements, ratios, and concepts
Ability to document in an organized fashion
Ability to develop and prepare spreadsheets
Ability to clearly and concisely present summary of credit related issues
Experience in the transportation industry is preferred
Basic understanding of commercial bankruptcy laws
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively interface with customers and internal personnel
Ability to provide excellent customer care with a "client service" mindset and the ability to use collaborative and non-adversarial approaches to achieving diverse goals
Proficient in general computer use and MS Office applications; strong Excel skills required (Word PowerPoint and Outlook are a plus)
Capable of adapting to a rapidly changing environment while embracing new technologies/tools
Ability to effectively manage competing deadlines in a high-pressure work environment with varying degrees of supervision
Excellent analytical/problem solving skills
Interactive, team-oriented mindset with a motivation to enhance process improvement
