Job Summary

The Senior Credentialing Specialist is responsible for the coordination of all activities associated with the credentialing and re-credentialing of physicians and providers. The position will be responsible in ensuring that credentialing policies and procedures meet all organizational, state regulatory and external accreditation requirements. This position reports to the Manager of Credentialing.

Education: High School Diploma or GED; Associates degree preferred

Experience / Knowledge /

Skills:
  • Three (3) years of Credentialing experience in a managed care plan, Medical Staff Services, or credentialing verification office

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess compliance, record, analyze, and interpret data into meaningful formats

  • Effective oral and written communication skills

  • Basic computer skills: Microsoft Office, Word and Excel

  • Proficient understanding of credentialing Joint Commission, NCQA, and URAC accreditation standards

  • Demonstrated understanding on initial credentialing and re-credentialing practices for medical professionals including primary source verification methods, and compliance monitoring

Principal Accountabilities

  • Under general direction, implements and monitors procedures and activities related to the credentialing, re-credentialing and privileging of network providers.

  • Processes provider applications and re-applications including initial mailing, review, and loading of database into system ensuring high quality standards are maintained.

  • Maintains provider profiling system and communicates with providers by phone and mail regarding credentialing status.

  • May provide guidance or expertise to less experienced specialists.

  • Serves as a liaison during the credentialing processes, communicating with providers regarding credentialing status and information in a timely manner.

  • Assists in managing policies and procedures relating to credentialing and provider delegation maintenance.

  • Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.

  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Reporting directly to the Director of Regulatory Affairs, this role will interface on a daily basis with Manufacturing Operations, Research and Development, and Clinical Engineering. Key Responsibilities * Participates on project teams for purposes identifying regulatory requirements for market approvals or clinical trials. * Develops regulatory submission applications for the introduction of new or modified devices, new or expanded indications for use or changes to the manufacturing/quality processes. * Writes summary technical reports for regulatory submissions and responds to registration requests from regulatory authorities * Plans for and orchestrates meetings with regulatory officials for purposes related to market approval. * Maintains regulatory files to ensure the Company's compliance with regulatory requirements. * Develops, reviews and approves quality system documentation such as Clinical and Regulatory strategic plans, procedures, verification and validation protocols and reports, investigation (e.g., complaint or CAPA) and clinical protocols and study reports. * Collaborates with Clinical Affairs, Design Engineering, Quality, Operations and Clinical Engineering to fulfill design control activities and other Product Development Projects/New Product deliverables as defined. * Develops and maintains strong, positive business relationships with key internal customers such as Research and Development (R&D)/ R&D Project Management Office (PMO), Sales and Marketing, and finance to fulfill design development activities, establish clinical and regulatory project timelines and begin successful initiation of new clinical studies. * Leads effective meetings, conduct presentations, keep and maintain clinical, regulatory and quality records, and meeting minutes. * Working closely with Quality (and Clinical, as necessary) during audits/inspections. * Work closely with Clinical to develop and implement clinical and regulatory strategies that will ensure company compliance with regulatory requirements resulting in timely clinical trial start-up, marketing approval or registration of products. * Collaborate with regulatory representative(s) of international Distributors and/or Affiliates to ensure continued compliance with international regulations. Minimum Qualifications * Preferably 2-5 years of relevant experience interfacing with the FDA and international regulatory agencies. * Experience in the medical device industry preparing regulatory submissions (IDE, IDE Supplements, PMA, PMA Supplements, 510(k), CE Marking, Health Canada etc., is strongly preferred. * Experience in the development and implementation of clinical, statistical and/or regulatory processes and procedures. * Proficient in MS Office including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and in any other relevant language(s). * Understanding of basic clinical and regulatory principles including, but not limited to: leadership, coaching and motivational skills, project management skills, strategic planning and organizational skills, clinical trial design and methodology and knowledgeable of world-wide clinical and regulatory environments we compete in. * Knowledge of pertinent regulations in major jurisdictions (Europe, U.S., Canada) is preferred.
