Summary/Objective: This position supports the PSA compliance coordinator by assisting in the development and implementation of the training curriculum to meet ORR and licensing requirements. This positions also assists with tracking the training compliance of staff in the program. This position at times maybe responsible for providing supervision and oversight of the counselors in their day to day duties to ensure appropriate supervision and care for all UCs in care. This includes ensuring the living environments meet ORR and CCL Title 22 standards at all times.

Essential Functions:

Primary functions incudes:

  • Develops and facilitates necessary trainings for the on-boarding of staff and annual trainings under the direction of the PSA Compliance/Training Coordinator

  • Assists in developing the annual training calendar to follow and tracks staff compliance with training (maintains tracking spreadsheets/tools) and provides updates to both staff and supervisors.

  • Works with the supervisor to monitor homes to ensure compliance with relevant PSA standards/requirements

  • Is to become Pro-Act certified and provide classes for staff.

  • Assist in performing various audit functions as indicated in our Program Performance Plan and develops spreadsheets and/or dashboards to track and relay the information accurately to the PD and relevant supervisors.

  • Makes recommendations based on audit results to improve systems, training, etc.

Other Duties:

  • Supervise, interact and facilitate am/pm counselor's activities for the 24-hour care of undocumented children (UAC).

  • Train, and coordinate counselor's activities during their assigned shift (e.g. day/night).

  • Intervene with counselors and UAC as needed to encourage appropriate interpersonal interactions among counselors and UAC and counselors.

  • Enforce policy and procedures and consequences for counselor's behavior(s) and/or poor work performance behavior as indicated by Counselor Supervisor and/or Program Manager reporting all performance management issues promptly to supervisor.

  • Instruct counselors about their functions including distinct shift responsibilities and ensure that UAC's needs are being met daily.

  • Function as a member of the programs management team, including support and accountability to his or her staff members, and act as a positive role model.

  • Communicate and coordinate with all appropriate staff during his or her shift.

  • Evaluate assigned team members' performance according to established protocols.

  • Provide input and enforce policies and procedures including planning, intervention strategies to be used, and support the admissions and discharges of UAC.

  • Complete required documentation.

  • Participate in-group work as needed.

  • Transport clients as needed and or assign appropriate staff member to provide transportation.

  • Provide assistance to UAC's Case Manager as needed.

  • Ensure group home and cottage environment is clean and well maintained.

  • Assist and intervene in crisis utilizing approved crisis intervention strategies.

  • Pursue professional growth by making use of supervision and other professional

development opportunities.

  • Other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibility: This position may be responsible for supervising the counseling staff on his/her shift as a back-up for his/her primary supervisor.

Work Environment:

This job operates both inside in office environment, living environments, gymnasiums and exercise rooms as well as outside at different activity fields. The job maybe performed in outside weather conditions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is frequently very active and often requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position and hours of work are typically 9:00am to 5:00pm though some later hours and weekend work will periodically be required.

Qualifications

Position Qualifications:

Education, training and certification:

  • Bachelor's degree in behavioral sciences, human services or social service fields or business administration or management.

  • Bilingual in Spanish

  • Experience working with at-risk and/or newly arrived youth preferred

  • Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, internet search, people management programs, smart phones and tablets, printers, fax machines and photocopiers as well as software including word processing, spreadsheet and database programs

  • Must have a valid California driver's license and good driving record.

  • Possess or be able to obtain CPR and First Aid certificates.
