The Senior Counsel provides a full range of legal advice and services. The Senior Counsel works on problems of diverse scope and complexity ranging from moderate to substantial.

Humana's Law Department is seeking a Senior Counsel to provide legal advice and support for its national commercial insurance, Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, and Dental and Vision provider network operations. The position focuses on drafting and negotiation of provider contracts and providing legal advice and counsel to corporate and market operations on an array of matters affecting provider network contracting, and clinical initiatives. In addition, the successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing internal policies and procedures and other documents that support network operations of the company.

Required Qualifications

o Juris Doctorate degree from a ABA accredited school law school

o 5-10 years of experience, with at least 3 years of contract drafting

d Active membership in a state bar association

o Strong legal writing and analytical skills

o Ability to work independently under general supervision and in team settings

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrate understanding of medical insurance provider network dynamics and apply this knowledge to situations, inquiries and document preparation.

Excellent interpersonal/relationship-building skills and ability to collaborate with and positively influence others

Responsibilities The Operations Counsel is responsible for providing legal support to assigned communities in areas of daily operations, training, claims resolution and litigation, regulatory compliance, and contractual/licensing administration. * Act as primary contact and provide legal counsel and support for Atria's communities within designated geographic areas. * Advise senior Operations management on a wide variety of legal matters. * Manage litigation and administrative proceedings. * Provide training to community management on a variety of legal issues. * Draft, negotiate and review contracts and other legal documents. * Manage work of outside counsel and associated costs. * May perform other duties as needed and/or assigned. Qualifications * Juris Doctorate degree. * Three or more years' experience in established law firm practice with well-rounded litigation and/or regulatory practice. * Meaningful regulatory experience is preferred. * Outstanding academic record and legal research skills. * Strong interpersonal communication and relationship building skills to establish cross-functional, collaborative relationships. * Outstanding organizational and planning skills. * Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. * Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbal and written. * Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and balance multiple priorities.
