FactSet is looking for a senior attorney with commercial contract experience to serve as part of our legal team in our Norwalk or New York office to primarily support the legal review, negotiation and interpretation of data vendor contracts globally. This senior attorney will be responsible for drafting and negotiating data license and other commercial contracts for senior strategic stakeholders. A successful candidate must be able to flag and effectively communicate material issues, propose strategies to limit risk, and collaborate closely with colleagues. The candidate must be a self-starter, eager to learn new skills with formal and on-the-job training, highly responsive and effective at communicating, skilled at paying attention to detail and spotting issues, capable of multitasking, confident to collaborate with internal stakeholders and negotiate with opposing counsel, and have a high level or organizational skills to manage a large volume of contracts. We are looking for a solutions-oriented, team player.
Acting as lead legal adviser to internal stakeholders with respect to data vendor agreements;
Reviewing, negotiating, drafting and revising agreements, while learning about the global FactSet business;
Advise on legal and compliance issues related to content and FactSet's core intellectual products;
Collaborating with a global Legal team of experienced, skilled lawyers; and
Assist with coverage of general corporate and commercial matters as needs arise.
Desired Skills & Experience:
Undergraduate and J.D. degrees from recognized institutions; top academic credentials required.
Must be a member of the Connecticut or New York bar or eligible for admission to the Connecticut bar, including as an authorized house counsel.
Prior law firm or in-house experience required.
Four to Seven years of relevant experience.
Must have sufficient experience to handle responsibilities with minimum of supervision.
Must have the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while prioritizing responsibilities and meeting deadlines.
Must have good judgment, a high level of professional integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality.
Must have the ability to interact confidently with colleagues and adversaries, and to translate difficult legal principles into practical business solutions.
Must have excellent analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, drafting, organizational and communication skills.
Must have an energetic, decisive, hard-working, detail-oriented, hands-on personality with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to gain respect and influence others.
Must be a quick learner with a high degree of common sense and resourcefulness.
