What you will do:

The Senior Cost Accounting Analyst is responsible for the ongoing analysis of inventory and cost of goods sold, main area of focus is milk production and related sales, commodity cheese, whey production and sales. Will provide financial leadership in ongoing process development, documentation, conversion and implementation of a cost accounting systems and controls.

Will provide accounting support to various operating groups and will be instrumental in maintaining accurate work-in-progress and perpetual inventory records, setting standard cost, manufacturing and material variance reporting, budgeting, forecasting of costs, assisting in analysis generation and its related accuracy working closely with and for the Cost Accounting Manager. Additionally, will work closely with and support the appropriate senior management and other staff members, to include: FP&A, Dairy Commodity Risk, Operations, Supply Chain, Category Management, and R&D.

Will work with Corporate Finance and IS/Integration staff to ensure consistency in reporting and processes and in completing assigned special projects. Will provide financial operations expertise to appropriate managers and will frequently interface with the company's external auditors.

Here's a day in the life:

  • Support and assist the Cost Accounting Manager in accomplishing the requirements as set by the company which will include ensuring that all accounting entries are timely, accurate, and comply with generally accepted accounting principles.

  • Implement, monitor and provide continuous improvement in the standard work procedures for appropriate financial operations procedures and methods. Conduct and analyze audits of financial performance and prepares reports.

  • Participate in relevant Bill of Material (BOM) audits, maintenance and review for manufactured items and prepare cost estimates for new products. Perform standard BOM cost rolls for finished products manufactured and purchased along with cost change analysis.

  • Develop, maintain and review standard costs for materials, ingredients, finish goods and purchase for resale items.

  • Perform intercompany accounting procedures and operational return on investment analysis.

  • Mentor and help develop other analysts at the direction of the Cost Accounting Manager

  • Develop, maintain and review operational support allocation matrix.

  • Perform a much deeper collection and analysis of direct manufacturing and overhead cost with the objective of reducing cost or assisting Operations with more effective return on investments.

Education:

Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting or Business Administration is required; MBA degree a plus but not required.

Skills you'll need:

5-7 years of experience in manufacturing accounting, financial analysis and general accounting is required.

Experience in automating and improving processes to gain efficiency, improve accuracy and produce high quality work is required.

High level ERP and system experience is required.

Consumer Packaged Good experience is preferred. Experience with a dairy Cooperative is desirable.

Strong Manufacturing experience is required.

Must have strong knowledge of GAAP and fully understand accounting methodologies.

Dairy industry preferred, specifically milk processing.

Key Responsibilities * Assist with quarterly financial forecasts, including working with key business partners to gather data * Assist with the annual budgeting process * Analyze financial data and prepare to discuss with management team * Work closely with the asset management & accounting team to ensure accurate financial reporting * Provide analysis of trends and forecasts and recommend actions for cost optimization * Identify and drive process improvements, including the creation of standard and ad-hoc reports * Increase productivity and efficiency by developing tools for reporting and forecasting tools * Prepare Ad hoc financial analysis and reports as requested Skills and Requirements * Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance/Economics * 3-5 years' experience in business finance, industry or other relevant experience. * Renewable industry preferred but not required * Strong analytical skills, ability to solve abstract problems with limited information, attention to detail and organization * Strong interpersonal and communication skills * Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products specifically Excel and PowerPoint * Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment Additional Success Factors * Ability to identify and improve inefficiencies * Ability to participate in a productive team environment by establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with co-workers, managers, customers, contractors, and vendors. * Effectively provides and receives information orally in individual and group situations.
