About This Role

The scope of the Senior Cost Accountant includes collaborating with other accountants and financial staff in the company to provide financial and accounting support to executives and department heads who establish goals and budgets for the organization.

What You Will Work On

• Collect and analyze data about a company's manufacturing/operational costs both with CMO (Contract Manufacturing Organizations) and in-house manufacturing

• Set/calculate standard costing of manufactured goods and develop cost accounting policies

• Establish costs of business processes such as administration, labor, shipping, etc.

• Work with operational teams to analyze inventories for potential excess and obsolete reserves and make related entries in accordance with the company's policies

• Provide assistance with the annual operating plan, quarterly forecast, and monthly actual reporting and variance analysis in support of the business operations management team's review

• Recommend changes to the company's processes and policies to reduce cost and maximize profit

• Perform the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing process for cost of goods sold and inventories, ensure accuracy and generate entries

• Oversee the cycle count process and cycle count reporting

• Identify process improvements, propose changes to management and implement changes

• Excellent understanding of internal control environment and various regulatory compliance including Sarbanes Oxley Act (SOX)

• Additional tasks as assigned

• Support month-end/quarter-end close process

• Perform other duties as assigned

What You Will Bring

• BS in Accounting or related field plus 5 years of Cost Accounting experience in manufacturing

• Experience in specialty chemical manufacturing or biomanufacturing (process manufacturing) is a must!

• Excellent knowledge in cost accounting concepts

• In-depth understanding of the principles of financial accounting and how it can be used to create a budget for a business.

• Strong financial analysis skills

• Ability to prepare financial reports and give recommendations based on available data

• Superior knowledge of ERP (primarily manufacturing and inventory management modules)

• Excellent attention to detail

• Effective communication, including writing, speaking and active listening

• Past demonstration of excellent collaboration and teamwork

Compensation commensurate with employee qualifications, experience, and other factors including geographic location, market, and operational factors.

Pay Range: $65-$70 an hour
