Senior Cost Accountant
Boulder, Colorado, United States
Finance leadership drives value to the Surgical Innovations business and its manufacturing centers. In this role, you will use your talents and skills to build business insights, manage process development, and drive compelling analytics that propel the Boulder manufacturing plant to expected strong business results. This role reports to the Finance Director/Plant Controller and is directly responsible for Precision Instruments Factory monthly financial reporting, expense forecasts/planning, account reconciliations, and a myriad of other financial directives that support our business partners across the organization.
Precision Instruments represents $211M of Cost of Production for the Surgical Innovations Business within the Minimally Invasive Therapies Group (MITG).
A Day in the Life:
Create metrics that build insights that are both efficient for Precision Instruments Focus Factory leadership to understand and effective in supporting key business strategies
Conduct critical month-end activities including cost center management and analysis, balance sheet reconciliations, and variance commentary
Consolidate business partner's inputs for financial reviews (monthly & quarterly reviews, annual operating plan, long range strategic plans, and ad hoc reporting)
Manage key performance indicators monthly through reviews of actual, forecasted, and planned metrics
Attend production meetings on the plant floor to receive insights to assist in analysis
Be the subject matter expert in purchase price variances, freight in expenses, costed BOMs, labor routers, and material usage variance
Develop forward looking insights and measurements for the factory
Investigate and report on key cost saving opportunities and variance analysis around important costing metrics (i.e. PPV, MUV, and Labor efficiency)
Challenge existing processes forecasts for improvement for achievability
Support factory new product launches
Perform ad hoc projects, analyses, reporting, and tasks as required
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's Degree with 4+ years of work experience in Finance and/or Accounting (2+ years with an Advanced degree)
Nice to Have
BA/BS in Accounting, Business or Finance
MBA, CMA or CPA
Experience working in support of manufacturing operations
Experience with SAP and Hyperion
Experience leading process improvement projects (Green Belt+)
Strong qualitative and quantitative analysis, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
Solid accounting foundation with high interest in financial modeling
Ability to interface in a team environment with various levels of management
High integrity and self confidence
Strong organization skills
High degree of initiative and self-motivation
Strong communication, collaboration, presentation and interpersonal skills
Desire to learn and to develop for future opportunities and job growth
