Our Opportunity:

Chewy seeks a passionate Senior Cost Accountant to join our expanding corporate accounting team based in our Dania Beach, FL Headquarters. In this position, you develop an expertise in reporting on a nationwide network of pet products that's growing by the day. Your skills will be utilized to support numerous facets of the organization in key decision-making moments, as we continue to evolve as an eCommerce pacesetter. You will learn first-hand, impacting operations with your innate desire to simplify, automate and drive results, while raising the yield of a world-class accounting organization.

What You'll Do:

  • Analyze cost of inventory across Chewy's entire network, including Chewy Pharmacy, and develop agile reporting to accounting team as well as key business stakeholders

  • Provide effective guidance on impacts associated with special projects and non-routine transactions related to inventory

  • Partners with business to prepare and analyze inventory reserves for excess/obsolete, damages and mark-downs

  • Prepare reconciliations for inventory valuation and perform analytics over reasonableness of product cost

  • Document controls, processes and procedures related to manufacturing accounting and ensure SOX 404 compliance

  • Play a key role in the monthly accounting close; recommend improvements in process

  • Assist with technical accounting research and preparing related memos and entries

  • Prepare year-end and quarter-end audit schedules; liaise with external auditors

What You'll Need:

  • BA/BS degree in Accounting or Finance

  • CPA is eligibility required

  • Graduate degree preferred

  • Minimum 3+ years of Cost Accounting experience, strong preference for experience in a Public Company

  • Strong technical accounting and financial analytical skills, with a proven ability to manage new ideas and execute creative solutions to problems

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong MS Excel skills

  • Experience working with Oracle, SQL and/or Tableau are a big plus

  • Position may require travel

Detailed duties and Responsibilities: * Responsible for timely and accurate posting of payroll to the G/L. * Acts as liaison between accounting. * Ensures timely, accurate, quality preparation of the Company's monthly financial statements. * Works with Controllers and Tax departments for disclosure items. * Provides financial support to the business through teamwork with analysts to provide meaningful information and reporting of the business. * Supports working capital management and tax reporting. * Provides information by responding to questions and requests; * Assists with special projects by collecting and reviewing financial information * Prepares reports and information to support business analysis; and contributes to team effort and objectives. * Assists with development of budgets and variances and other tasks. * Develops self and team through involvement in projects, work on system initiatives and developmental opportunities. * Continuous evaluation of current processes for improvement Minimum qualifications: * Bachelor of Science, concentration in accounting. * Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the preparation and review of financial statements. * A thorough understanding of accounting systems, internal controls, process flows, and general accounting. * Strong accounting and analytical skills. * Computer skills - Excel, ERP accounting systems, Word, databases. * Strong communication and leadership skills.
