Summary:

This position is responsible for overseeing the troubleshooting and repair of all control systems components including control panel wiring, hard-wired devices, instrumentation, and I/O devices, controllers, HMIs (Human Machine Interfaces), and the fabrication, installation, and start-up of a large control system. Position must travel to various locations with approximately 70% of the time away from home and coordinate with vendors and contractors to insure the completion of sub-contracted projects as applied to the control systems.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities Include:

  • Attend print reviews and coordinating with others on their corrections

  • Coordinating with various levels of management on all aspects of control systems and conducting site surveys for future control systems.

  • Troubleshoot, modify, and repair all types of PLC software, graphic interface software, and network communication.

  • Responsible for all types of communication maintenance, RF, Modbus +, TCP/IP, fiber optic, and RIO.

  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned by supervisor.

Requirements:

  • Education: Prefer Education beyond high school including special training, vocational school and/or college courses.

  • Experience: Preferred 4+ years' experience in one of the following fields: Electrician, plant maintenance, mechanical technician, PLC programming, apprentice electrician.

  • Travel: Approximately 70% of the time away from home.

  • Special Skills:Basic hand tools, reading schematics, understanding use of DVOM, mechanical understanding, advanced electrical wiring.

REQUIREMENTS: Education: A Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or Information Systems or equivalent experience. Experience: At least 4 years of control engineering experience with the ability to program PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA control systems. The candidate should have a background in reading electrical control schematics, developing sequence of operations and converting into automation code. The candidate should be capable of making advanced enhancements, troubleshooting, and testing existing applications. Computer Skills: Windows Operating Systems, Microsoft Office, Visio, AutoCad. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate technical information to all levels of understanding. Travel: 10 - 20 trips per year. Engineer should be willing to travel to job site for start-up of control systems. Special Skills: A Senior Controls Engineer should have excellent programming and design skills in PLC, HMI, and SCADA control systems; The successful candidate should be able to accomplish systems analysis tasks across the Tyson enterprise; have advanced knowledge of control systems design; be able to complete complex coding requirements within project time constraints; and be willing to support installed control systems for emergency purposes outside of normal business hours. * 2+ years SCADA programming experience, preferably Inductive Automation - Ignition. * 4+ year of PLC / HMI programming experience - preferably Rockwell / Allen-Bradley * 4+ year of manufacturing experience. * Database management experience a plus, preferably MS SQL Server * Experience with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) operations, wiring, and configuration. Allen-Bradley PowerFlex experience preferred. * Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) operations, wiring, and programming. Allen-Bradley Logix platform preferred. * Experience with Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs) operations, wiring, and programming. Rockwell PanelView Plus / FactoryTalk View platform preferred. * Experience with installation and implementation of process controls networks such as Ethernet/IP. Including CIP Safety. * Basic understanding of Ethernet networks and troubleshooting techniques. * Robotic experience with FANUC systems a plus. * Vision systems experience a plus.
