Senior Controller, Real Estate

The Real Estate Senior Controller will be responsible for directing the financial planning and accounting practices for residential lots and commercial property in multiple projects located in California and Hawaii. This individual will support the horizontal and vertical improvements for existing and future releases by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate managers.

Roles & Responsibilities Financial Planning & Strategy Develop and execute the company’s financial strategy and business plan for each project. Collaborate with the CEO to develop financial plans, providing insights and recommendations to enhance the company’s overall financial health. Project Accounting & Financial Management Manage accounting procedures, oversee accounting systems, and ensure accurate project budgets and variances.

Implement and maintain a comprehensive job cost system. Operational Oversight Direct and manage day-to-day operations of the accounting department, ensuring compliance with policies, regulations, and contracts. Ensure monthly analysis of Pro Forma results to track project outcomes and make necessary recommendations.

Corporate Finance & Analytics Utilize analytics and predictive modeling to drive financial performance. Develop and continuously evaluate short and long-term strategic financial objectives. Financial Forecasting & Reporting Manage processes for financial forecasting, budgets, consolidation, and reporting to the company.

Coordinate the preparation of the corporation's financial statements and management discussion and analysis. Stakeholder Communication Establish and maintain lines of communication with the investor community, equity partners, lenders, and other third parties. Represent Real Estate Finance on various cross-functional project teams.

Development Support Coordinate with Development Manager on best project accounting practices and software support. Provide data and financial insights both up and down the management chain. Risk Management Facilitate all insurance and bonding needs for the projects.

Ensure compliance with established policies, regulations, and contracts to mitigate risks. Long-Range Planning Develop the long-range plan in partnership with the CEO and COO, helping to establish long-term goals for the business. Identify and quantify initiatives to achieve long-term objectives.

Project Transactions Responsible for packaging applications to appropriate stakeholders for all equity and debt project transactions. Ensure effective financial management and support for horizontal and vertical improvements in existing and future project releases Qualifications Undergraduate degree in finance, economics, or real estate. Master’s Degree, CPA or CFA preferred Five to ten years of experience in analysis of residential/commercial real estate markets Five to ten years of industry experience in residential and commercial development from acquisition to entitlements to build out Demonstrated ability to identify key real estate market drivers, assess their impact on a given real estate market, and communicate related analysis and conclusions Demonstrated strong analytical and decision-making skills Highly developed written and oral communication skills.
