Our Seattle team is growing! Faithful Gould has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Contract specialist. This position reports to the Deputy Project Manager and indirectly to Resident Engineer. Exercises considerable independent judgment and operates with minimal direct direction. Must become an expert on the client's Processes and Procedures on the Design Build Contract. Must be able to work under pressure in a fast track design build project.   • Provides principal support to the project management team in the effective administration of the contract between the client and Design Build Contractor

  • Draft contractual commitment documents particularly responding to contractual letters

  • Coordinate with other project team members and departments to identify related actions or inactions to result constructive contract changes

  • Identify opportunities and develop strategies to avoid potential claims

  • Take appropriate actions to protect the client's interest

  • Provide recommendations for corrective action

  • Ensure Contractor is compliant with prime contract terms and conditions

  • Identify and validate Design Build claims and coordinate the efforts to negotiate and help the Project Management team to resolve claims with the Design Built Contractor when necessary

  • Prepare, maintain, retrieve, and communicate records, reports, or documents that may be required to meet contractual requirements

  • Establishes and updates records of all correspondence related to contract activity

  • Close coordination with project controls, scheduling, Resident Engineer and change management teams


  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Quantity Surveying, Law, Engineering, Construction Management or related field

  • 10 years of contract management experience preferred, with experience in management of the prime contract in heavy civil/infrastructure/transportation projects

  • Strong hands on experience with MS Office tools especially Word and PowerPoint

  • Strong experience in construction contracts particularly in design-build contracts

  • Excellent letter writing skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills in order to work effectively with peers, management, DB Contractor

  • Understanding of alternative dispute resolution techniques

  • Highly organized and ability to process multiple contract correspondences in parallel.

  • Experience in contract law, contract drafting, administration

  • Experience of handling prime contract and subcontracts and of responding to and utilizing their claims.

  • Previous experience with rail facilities infrastructure projects is considered a valuable asset

  • Proficiency in English (spoken and written)

King County International Airport - Boeing Field (KCIA) is looking for a forward- thinking, detailed oriented Lead Contract Specialist (Contract Specialist 3) who will be a member of the Airport Finance and Contracts section. We are looking for someone who is a leader, can work both independently and collaboratively, is creative, has a sense of humor and enjoys finding solutions to procurement and business challenges. This position is responsible for leading, overseeing and evaluating the work of others and ensuring consistency by interpreting policies and procedures, as well as providing expertise as a specialist in procurement of major capital improvement projects involving construction and engineering contracts. ABOUT KING COUNTY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (BOEING FIELD) KCIA is one of the busiest primary non-hub general aviation airports in the nation. Located just four miles south of downtown Seattle, it averages 200,000 aircraft operations each year. In 2001, it was named by the National Air Transportation Association as one of the "100 Most Needed Airports" in the United States. KCIA ranks among the most successful public investments in state history. Prepare grant certifications, perform debarment searches, and maintain required documentation. Identify allowable and eligible invoice charges for proper coding to grants. Review grant closeout reports for accuracy and completeness and work with consultants and FAA to finalize the reports. * Work with King County staff to monitor and report on triennial Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) awards or commitments. * Research, prepare and issue solicitation and contract documents in accordance with County policies and procedures, federal and state laws. * Analyze bid documents for conformance with solicitation requirements. * Provide leadership and input to initial agency position on protests from unsuccessful bidders. * Supervise and lead staff with their daily work.
