Position Description

McKesson is seeking a Senior Contact Administrator, PBM (Pharmacy Benefit Management) Relations.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Contract Administration this Senior Contract Administrator is responsible for monitoring all key aspects of the Biologics payer contract portfolio, with a particular focus on PBM Performance/DIR networks with the top tier PBMs. This team member is integral to the achievement of our financial and operational performance targets and will drive continued financial, process and performance improvement. Collaborating closely with Biologics' internal Operations, Finance and Biopharma teams, this role is responsible for the management of our contract performance, including reimbursement and performance metrics and identifying areas of risk and remediation.

This Admin will primarily focus on managing many of our larger payors (including the Medicare Part D, DIR-based networks), but will also aggregate PBM market intelligence, assist in researching, evaluating, analyzing, and communicating all details regarding PBM contracts to educate and guide our internal team on how to optimize the profitability of PBM agreements. Lastly, the person in this role should operate as the core subject matter expert in understanding how Biologics can leverage its unique clinical focus to drive the most optimal payer agreements in all lines of business.

Contract Effectiveness Oversight

  • All Lines of Business
  • Key resource that supports development and execution of PBM contract strategy

  • Responsible for understanding PBM network strategy trends to anticipate year over year changes and assess impact on pharmacy operations and financial targets.

  • Participate in regular conference calls and other communications with PBMs to discuss opportunities (national and regional), issues, changes, etc.

  • Gather details for contract opportunities, new network/plan solicitations, re-contracts, renewals, etc. for review with Managers, PBM Relations.

  • Directly responsible for management of contract database, including optimal set-up and reporting, as well as enhancements which may include reporting capabilities such as lists of niche contracts, active or pending contracts, completed contracts, contract improvements, and other reporting needs as necessary. Audit the contract database to ensure data accuracy and integrity.

  • Provides detailed review and summary of third-party payer agreements.

  • Participates in payer-facing strategy sessions to align negotiation objectives and performance remediation.

Contract Performance & Remediation Strategy

  • All Lines of Business
  • Responsible for creating and executing monthly reimbursement performance analysis, with primary focus on validating profitability of: 1) New drug launch performance. 2) New service agreements or contract launches.

  • Provides detailed audit/analysis summary to VP/GM, FP&A and VP, Market Access.

  • Responsible for tracking issues to resolution.

  • Leads internal/external corrective action strategies that resolve payer reimbursement under-performance or discrepancies, including mitigation of point-of-sale variance and corrective action need to minimize financial impact of performance guarantees and service level agreements.

Minimum Job Qualifications

  • Minimum seven (7) years' experience in healthcare operations or contracting, previous experience with Pharmacy Benefit Manager preferred.

  • Specialty Pharmacy experience is also highly preferred.

  • Proven background in direct management or key support of complex client programs.

  • Proven ability to analyze data for trends, patterns, and outliers in complex datasets.

  • Ability to communicate effectively across enterprise.

Minimum Education

  • 4-year degree or related, equivalent experience.

Specialized Knowledge/Skills

  • Specialty pharmacy knowledge is a significant plus and considered a significant advantage.

  • In-depth knowledge of the insurance or healthcare market.

  • Experience and knowledge of compliance activity in heavily regulated industry.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated negotiation and sales skills.

  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to work in self-motivated environment.

  • Strong analytical skills to run profitability analysis.

  • Collaborative, customer focused, and able to create visible value to client and within the organization.

  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects toward effective solutions and according to budget and timelines.

  • Detailed understanding and experience with process documentation and improvement.

  • Analytical ability to take an opportunity, notice trends, research and suggest solutions to the customer.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Visio and Project.

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint.

Working Conditions

  • Able to travel overnight domestically 5% of the time.

Our Base Pay Range for this position

$86,900 - $144,900
