BAE Systems is seeking a Senior Continuous Improvement Engineer to support in York, PA. In this role as a Senior Continuous Improvement Engineer, you'll perform all aspects of Continuous Improvement (CI) activities, driven by business needs and company strategies and objectives. Your focus will be honed in on Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost. You'll be an integral part of coaching, mentoring, and training leaders, project teams, and associates to engrain solid problem-solving through process on a daily basis. Initial priority in this role will be Basic Problem Solving and A3 Methodology, while utilizing other Lean Six Sigma, statistical and advanced tools where deemed necessary.

Included duties:

  • Support daily/weekly coaching sessions with problem-solving teams and assist in developing future coaches and practitioners in assigned areas.

  • In assigned areas, establish CI 90-day and annual plans, data collection systems, program/project tracking, sustainment, and follow-up initiatives.

  • Manage project identification, prioritization, and execution by applying the models, methods, and standards available, including Visual Management Systems, Metric boards and Tools aligned with "Go See" walks with plant, department, and program leaders.

  • Place high emphasis on Safety while driving team behaviors such as integrity, inspiring the team, promoting collaboration, being courageous, creative, and adaptable, while developing others to improve overall business processes and performance.

  • Maintain and develop further relationships with all Strategic Operations, Operations Managers, and associates to include Operators, Quality, Engineering, and Supply Chain to support various initiatives, projects or any other activity by applying the available tools and knowledge.

  • Actively engage on the CI Pillar Process by ensuring the approach of identifying and prioritizing the projects, leading/coaching or mentoring, applying the correct tools (5 Why, A3, DMAIC, JDI, Quick Events, SMED, 6 Sigma, etc).

  • Apply Project Management Tool to manage projects under scope while ensuring timeline and target accomplishment (which includes savings or additional impact calculation and approvals, projects documentation and 12 months tracking for sustainability).

  • Lead or coach high impact projects due to its level of complexity and impact to the organization. Recommend and propose potential replication projects to plant / program / department owners.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering or Science or related discipline with four years of applicable experience, OR an Associate's Degree in an Engineering or Science or related discipline with two years of applicable experience, OR the overall equivalent;

  • Related experience to include lean and continuous improvement principles, systems, methodologies and tools;

  • Experience with Quality, Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial engineering departments and activities;

  • Computer skills to include Microsoft Office Suite, Minitab, Visio, or similar applications;

  • Requires analytical, problem-solving skills with systematic thinking ability;

  • Effective communicator, written and verbal;

  • Experience supporting training;

  • Pro-active with an ability to influence, lead, guide, and drive change.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Toyota Production System exposure;

  • Certified Lean Six Sigma;

  • Experience presenting material;

  • Training / mentoring / coaching experience.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $83900 - $142600

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
